| Dear Pravina, It's awesome to have another lady who is rich with variety of experiences to share with us ladies here. I am sure ILites(Indusladies' nickname) not only wanna know your culinary skills and take a tip or two, we sure want to gain some insights on what you like reading, what kind of craft excites you, etc, as well! My best-friend back in Bombay is a kachhi jain, so I have grown up eating thepla-chundo(that's wat I packed for DH's lunch today!), dal-dhokli, khandvi, khichdi-kadhi, khaman, etc. I even read and write gujrati, hence the affiliation towards gujju food and people as such! Hope you have as much fun here as we all do! Love Shalini |

| Hi Everybody! I am a 30-year old woman, born and brought up entirely in kolkata. And, I came to Delhi in 1998 to pursue a PG Diploma in broadcast journalism from the prestigious Indian Institurte of Mass Communications, New Delhi. I got through the stiff competitive process, with the dream of becoming another Prannoy Roy, but soon realized that reporting is not my cup of tea. Moreover, coming to delhi was a total cultural shock. Being the only child of my parents, I had a secure and pampered lifestyle. But delhi's harshness and the hostel life made me a lot independent and with my foray into journalism, i became tough. Now, after 7 years of work experience, in the best media houses of India, I am doing what I've always wanted to do. Carrying on with writing. I am still working as an editor, but in a different way. Though news stirs my heart and mind, I have moved away from the media consciously, to enjoy the most of both the worlds of personal and professional life. I didn't want to have an elaborate career and after ten years regret that I lost out on my personal side. Now, I'm married for about two years to a nice, decent guy, and live with him and his mother. His elder sister lives close by too. Without a child still, I am making the most of this time. I'm really glad to be a member of this forum and am happy to know so many more women. Hoping to hear from u all soon. Rajashri ![]() |
