tamil name for flax seed is ali virai, flax seed can be taken just like that in the morning , say 1 spoon, or u can have flax seed powder with milk ( 1spoon powder with a glass of milk), or even it can be used in cooking jus like how we use jeera, or flax seed biscuits are available in the market now, u can go a head and have it if u r not calorie consious.

There are lot of food products contain flax seed such as bread, cereal and bakery goods. Flax seed helps with your cholestrol, blood pressure, provides fiber, prevents breast cancer, heals inflammed intestines.
I'm using flax seed in my diet everyday. I usually sprinkle ground flax seed on my cereal, chappati, buttermilk and salads. And also I substitute flax seed oil for other oils while stir frying vegies. That way i get moderate amount of flax in my diet.
You get flax seeds in 'Nuts and Spices' u have many branches ...I bought them from Nuts and spices at Nungambakkam near ICICI bank Nungambakkam branch.
flax seed/powder is available in Nilgiris supermarket.
you can mix it with chappatti dough.
I have heard that the omega 3s(v good) in flax oil degrades quickly in stir frying ( a medium to high heat cooking technique) and can be bad for you. Its ok in boiling. So may i suggest adding the oil to the chappati mix or buttermilk before blending as a butter substitute. Or even plain in v small quantities on top of cereals, baked goods etc much like butter.
