| 7 dont's after a meal Don't smoke-Experiment from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher). Don't eat fruits immediately - Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Therefore take fruit 1-2 hr after meal or 1hr before meal. * Don't drink tea - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest. * Don't loosen your belt - ]Loosening the belt after a meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted &blocked. * Don't bathe -Bathing will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach. * Don't walk about - People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99. In actual fact this is not true. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake. * Don't sleep immediately - The food we intake will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric & infection in our intestine. _________________

| Good to have these information, my mom always insists I have fruits as soon my lunch is over now there is reason for me to defy her. As regards to the walking I also did not know this, actually I had been walking after lunch thinking what I just took would get digested but thats not the case as I see. Got to change my ways surely.

| Dear Sunkan, Great Info. Some ILites have mentioned about fruits after food. From the information I have gathered about fruits, fruits take only 20 minutes to digest and get absorbed. But when mixed with other foods they are forced to stay about 2 hours in the digestive system, because other solid foods take that much time to break down and hence, the fruits, instead of being beneficial, become rancid. But the exception is banana. It is as heavy as any solid food, has very high carbohydrate content, can be eaten with or after food, take a long time like solid foods to breakdown and get absorbed. And in fact, helps the digestive system in doing its work. So when we speak about no fruits with or after food, banana is an exception. Regards, Nandhita

| dear nandhita and maddy, fruit on its own is a whole meal, so any fruit is heavier after meal, if your meal is very light then u can afford a fruit but other wise, it is better to have it a lot later may be after another 2 hrs given the time for you to have digested a little and ur a little empty so indulge in it, but otherwise make it a habit to take only fruits twice a week they are great for the health, it is holiday from cooked food which is more tough to digest what with so many spice, go natural and u will feel light too..sunkan
