Bharatanatyam dancers

Hi all,

Anybody learning Bharatanatyam? Or any body experienced in Bharatanatyam?

Recently i joined in Bharata natyam.
After a long break i have started this again.
So, anybody else?????

I would like to join here , am neither an experienced dancer nor studying it now...but I really love it and did learn during my school days.
There is a group in IL for bharatanatyam lovers.

I didn't know that we have one group in IL expecially for dancers.
I joined in that group also.

So, coming to my first two classes,
I have learned few steps - 4 types in thattu vangam,
And hand simbols like pathaka, thipataka.....
And some warm up excersizes

So, ladies anybody else?

Hi,

I too have joined Bharatnatyam classes recently. I am very much interested and attended some classes during my school days.

Now I'm facing some difficulties while dancing due to weight and of course inactivity for quite so many years.

Thanks for the response.
I have learned few more steps last week.

Even though i do yoga in the morning, i feel tired while dancing.
I think this is best excersise to burn calories.

Yes, it's indeed tiring. I learnt few more steps. I'm unable to do kuthitha metti all in once. I stop take a break and do it. Master asks me to practice daily to get proper stamina. Couldn't do it though.

Which step are you in now?

Bharata Natyam or classical dance as such, is a science in itself.

Hello Stella

I couldnt continue my Dance class from past two weeks.
As we went to tour , and got some relatives other week,
This week no class as diwali.

So soming my steps.
I have learned my Ganesha.. namaskar
Could not get that song as it is kannada.
Which describes Ganesha..

So.. how about you?
