Best Lyrics - beautiful, meaningful, romantic, inspirational and what not

Hi wanted to post this song..though my list is long, I dont know I fell for the lyrics, music and romance all bundled up in SPB's Voice.

Dear Sharada Hari,

The songs of the yesteryears were very melodious and meaningful. That is why they are still liked and listened to, by many people. Not just Kannadasan, but also Vali, Vairamuthu, Gangai Amaran are very good lyricists. But the Kannadasan is the King. Then there are special style of songs matching to the personality of the actors. Like MGR would have massege imparting songs written for him, Sivaji had his Dramatic style of songs meant to be filmed on him. Similarly Rajini has got his variety of songs and so on.

The heroines also had their style of singing. Bhanumathy and Manorama would sing
with their own voices. Other heroines mostly depended on P.Susheela, L.R.Eswari, S.Janaki etc for play back singing. On the whole most of the songs were memorable ones. No wonder they are still Evergreen whereas the present day songs at the most have an average life of 3-4 months. Then it is clearly forgotten.

Lyrics and music changes with generation.. mmm.. appadi paatha..here's the hierarchy..

1. MSV - Kannadaasan - TMS - P.Susheela
2. MSV _ Kannadasan - SPB - P. Susheela, S. janaki


I 've heard a lot of SPB concerts - live, adhula he shares his experiences with kannadasan and MSV - adhu .. Golden Era !!..

Oru Instance, MSV wanted lyrics for a song situation.. Kannadasan was in no mood to write..MSV said " chumma edhavadhu la..la..la..la nnu ezhudhu paa",.. Adhu kku kannadasan's response --" oh.. la..la.. nnu venumma seri indha..vechiko"... and the song was..

"Vaan Nila Nila alla un vaalibam nila..."..

No chorus.. no peppe number.. but truly a masterpiece.. In those days not only the music directors even the violinist, tabla, flute.. everyone were given a chance to prove their identity...

4. Illayaraja - SPB ( some Vairamuthu !!) - s. Janaki, Chitra, Jency, Uma Ramanan, Arunmozhi, Jayachandran, Deepan Chakravarthy, SN. Surendar, KJY, B. S. Sashirekha

- Some of them in this list have sung less than 10 songs - but all were hits !!..

This space and time is not enough to talk about their generation.. wow!!.. enna brilliant music..

Here's an instance I heard from a radio show about how Illayaraja composed the music..

A ragam called - Subhapanthuvaralai - it is sort of raagam used to indicate a sad feeling.. something like a mourning tune..

Adhula, you won't believe - Illayaraja has composed " kandu pudichen kandu pudichen kadhal noiya kandu pudichen - from Guru sishyan!!..
There are so many songs to quote like that..

5. ARR - His music might have been a trend setter, but is less original ..all digital..and syncs..

You have rightly pointed out the quality of yesteryears lyrics.
MGR used to take the bent of lyrics writers till he get a better lyrics for his style and messaging.

Now a days heros are taking the bent of audience !!
