| No fair. I had posted a reply as soon as you posted the thread Shanthi. And I don't see it here! Anyway. I looooooove Ghazals. Well, I love music - period! And yes, I am a die-hard Ghazal fan too. Jagjit Singh is undoubtedly the king. His soothing voice calms me no matter how bad my nerves are at that moment. Pankaj Udhas's ghazals remind me of my childhood days. He was very popular then. Jagjit Singh came a little latter. Devika, yup, Adnan Sami has a great voice too. I have heard many of them live and the experience is heavenly. I get so emotional when I hear them live that I tell my husband I want to leave all this maya-jaal and surrender myself to music. Hasn't happened yet! Some Ghazals that I absolutely love in any mood and that immediately come to mind are - Woh Kabhi Mil Jaaen To Kyaa Kijiye - Gulam Ali Niyat-e-Shauq Bhar Naa Jaaye Kahin - Asha Bhosle, Album:Kashish Sarakti Jaaye Hai Rukh Se Naquaab Ahista Ahista - Jagjit Singh Tu Nahi To Zindagi mein Aur Kyaa Rehe Jaayega - Jagjit-Chitra I will come back with more. I was about to go to bed when I saw this post Shanthi. I could not resist writing a quick reply. Would love to discover other gems from all of you that I may have missed all these years. SS |
