Hi All, I need some advice on buying a shruti box for my daughter. I have heard about Radel and there is another shruti box called e-Swar. Would like to have your opinions a bout these? How can I decide on which shruti to set while she practises her lessons?
Hi Sindhu, I have a Radel for the past 5 yrs. It is good. It is a simple model, it serves my daughters purpose. For beginners i feel it is enough. I don't have any idea about e-swar.
Radel .. in radel there are two types..one the basic and the other tambura.. for beginners and even upto keerthana the basic one will suffice. my daughter has the basic model for the past 10 years..
There are a fews apps on IPad /Iphone ...which are pretty good too. I find it easier to carry around and comes with a metronome and different tala options.
Hi, Can you pls let me know which is the IPhone app which provide Sruthi box with metronome? I'm urgently in need of it. If possible, pls provide me the link. Tks
Hi It just means that there is the basic model which provides the lower octave Sa, Pa, higher octave Sa as in a harmonium and the other one as if a tambura strings were being plucked. Either one should work fine, though advanced level students usually use the tambura shruti. As for the scale, be consistent with the scale she uses in her class. Usually, for kids 6 or 6.5 (A scale per Shruti box) would work. It would even be wise to have it an octave higher than what she sings in class to practice, just so that the throat can open to reach notes in the higher octaves. Radel is a good brand, which has been around for a long time. I have had my Radel tambura shruti box for about 10 years now.
iTablaPro I use this .Yes its a bit pricey as apps come but its well worth it. Its available on Android as well I think.
