My DS is 2.5 yrs old and is very active and has great learning/grasping power. He loves to dance and sing. Since we listen to and watch a lot of film songs, he is able to sing almost all of them (the words are not clear but he manages to sound like the singer (pronunciation).
I think we should start teaching him to sing songs.

I know that once he goes to school he will be taught nursery rhymes. Can I go ahead teaching him Indian classical music? Carnatic or Hindustani? Or is it too early?

I can teach him small poems (sonnets) or bhajans, but I am not able to find such songs. Is there a website where I can find such small songs?

    Need your opinion.

    Prss,

If he has the inclination to listen, you can always sing to him. remember, though they do not sing immediately they grasp it and retain it.

my son, remembers and also knows a lot of bajans, krithis, my fil sings at home. he is 13 now, and he has a adept sense of rhythm.

since you are well versed in singing, you can just teach him playfully. at 2.5 he is not going to sit in one place, doing the s, p, s with perfect talas.

    what songs you want..or bhajans??

the indus mail account is void. if you want any of the songs and if i have it, will definitely share it.

Shanthika, Thanks for all the tips and for the links. I can also learn the songs from the links.

Hema, thanks for the link. Preethi already sent the link by email. Thanks. I would like to start teaching him tamil and english songs and then move to telugu, sanskrit and other languages because he does not understand those. But, it was so thoughtful of you to have replied.

there is no age for learning music and dance....
