| Mumbai’s First Skywalk Mumbai’s first skywalk incurring 13.63 crores expenditure in constructing it, which is 1.3 Kms long was inaugurated on 24th June 2008 by Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh. Bandra Railway Station and Kalanagar Junction is connected by the skywalk and is expected to be extended to Kherwadi. It will have 5 escalators at all its entry and exit points for the handicapped and senior citizens. The entry / exit points are bandra Railway Station, Anant Kanekar Marg, Indian Oil Building, Nandadeep Garden and Kalanagar Bus Stand. Although this skywalk is declared as No Hawking Zone the other skywalks to be constructed will have 300 hawkers. Pedestrians are happy as the traffic on the road is avoided. Senior Citizens however feel there should be few benches on the skywalk as walking the 1.3 kms is a bit tiresome. There should be some dustbins too. 49 more skywalks to be constructed!! 27 on Western Line, 19 on Central Line and 4 on Harbour Line.

| Skywalks are greatly welcomed in this traffic congested city! The signals are just for 30 seconds and senior citizens find it difficult to cross the broad roads in the given time. Skywalks with escalators will definitely help. Thanks Roopa for stepping in.

| Acpie, Mumbai Express becomes colourful the moment I receive your post. Yeah! Mumbai would have seen better progress if only the politicians stop playing dirty games. The Bandra Worli Sea link is going slow. Sewri Nava Shewa is still in papers struggling coz of bitter fights between Ambani brothers (bidding together aimlessly). Airport at Panvel has finally got a green signal after 5 years. Let us hope things move faster. Chalo! Chalo! Mumbai Express!!

| Hi Saras, Thanks for following the posts dearie! People use the space beneath the skywalks and over bridges and flyovers for many purpose and one them is "Peeing". In India, kissing on the streets is not allowed, but you can pee freely anywhere anytime!! ![]() ![]()
