Vertical Parking in Vashi, Navi Mumbai

Vashi a well planned city failed to allot parking space which has created chaos at primary shopping and commercial places like Sector 17. BMC has floated tenders for 7 mechanised car parkings budgeting to Rs.10.96 crores to loosen the congestion of parking space in the satellite city. The towers will have 11 floors with 2 car parking facilities on each floor thus each tower will accommodate 22 cars.

A 7 storeyed puzzle car park accommodating 110 cars and 3 storeyed puzzled car park accommodating 43 car parks is also being planned.

Vashi Sector 17 will take the 3 level puzzle car park and 2 towers. The 7 storeyed puzzle car park and 3 towers will be near VashiCivicHospital.

Car parking may cost from Rs.5 to Rs.10 an hour.

The pay and park space outside Vashi Railway Station may be handed over to NMMC for the multi level car parking system.

No Vertical Parking!

Citizens of Sector 17, Vashi are against the vertical parking system proposed by BMC at the cost of losing their jogging track and garden!

Hi Aruna,

In late 60's there was this Lungi Chodo Aandolon started by Paper Tiger! (you know whom). All southies were asked to leave Mumbai and go back to Tamil Nadu! There was major harrasment and law and order did nothing!

I hear these stories from my kakka and mama's.

Lungi Chodo Aandolon is serious when started by political parties! Hi Hi.

I have not been posting much news as there is no news in Mumbai, same chain snatching, looting for jewellry shops, dacoits entering home and looting etc.. As usual projects start and end in the parliament itself.

This thread does not give political coverage!

Thanks for catching up with Mumbai and Navi Mumbai News.

3 death in a row!

On Setp, 02 2008 a Reliance BPO at Kopar Khairane was moved down by a running train while she was crossing the railway track. She was unable to hear the horn of the train as she was listening to music with her headphone on!

On Sept, 08 2008 two youths were ran down by a train at Khairne Naka while they were crossing the tracks. While crossing the track they could see a train approaching, so they jumped off the track and let it pass. But, the train coming in from the opposite direction in the other track blew off both of them!

On Sept, 09 2008 two youth commuting on the roof tops of a train got electrocuted by an overhead electric cable. One died on the spot, while one was admitted with serious burn injuries.

All stations are provided with pedestrian paths, foot over bridge and underpasses, yet commuters love to take the short cut at the cost of their life!

Railway Police have decided to come heavy on them by imposing a fine of Rs.500/- on them or 10 days imprisonment.

13 year old girl dupes abductors.

Two men clad in burkha threaten her with a machete and also added that her parents would be assaulted if she reports the matter to anyone! She was asked her to leave home the next day with few text books and pair of clothes.

They abducted her the next day as per plan! While they were traveling in a bus, they made the girl sit in betweem them so that she does not escape. The bus entered Mumbai and slowed down due to Ganapathi Procession! The girl came up with a plan, she told the burkha clad men that she wants to vomit, they asked her to vomit from the window. With luck on her side, the windows were jammed, so they asked her to go to the door and vomit, the girl jumped off a slow running bus and ran for her life. After running for a long time, she asked the pedestrians where the nearest railway station is. She spent some time loitering on Mumbai Central Station, not knowing what to do. Railway Police smelled something fishy intercepted her and she told the truth. Rail officials called up her father and he was a relieved man! The girl is was taken to one of her Unlce’s home at Andheri!
