The fight for the bus to run from the road paralled to Kopar Khairane (KK) Station, Navi Mumbai was finally applauded. After constantly taking up the issue with the local corporator, NMMT BUS did run its first fleet of bus at 11.10 a.m. on Sunday from (KK) Station. Slowly the number of buses will increase as it happened with the train.

A Xth standard student boarded a BEST bus. When the boy gave Rs.50/- to the conductor, the latter insisted him for change. The boy did not have change for which the conductor abused him. The boy noted down the badge number of the conductor. There was no trace of any fear on the face of the conductor. Later, when the boy got off at his stop, a group of four other conductors hounded him and twisted his arms. He gave his exams in much pain and now is admitted in a private hospital. The boy lost chance of giving his other exams.

Iron Grills on Windows


The Iron Grills on Windows of the Retiwalla Industrial Estate in Byculla was the major hamper as windows were the only way from where people caught in fire could be rescued. This incident has thrown spectrum on the fact that not only industrial galahs, housing societies, offices, shops all of them use these grills on windows of their rooms and toilets as secutiry measures. Fire Department has raised this issue on how can people be rescued if they have decided to trap themselves with grills. Fire spreads from one floor to the other and thus blocking the staircases with huge black flames. Lifts cannot be used as it can cause suffocation to people trapped in life. Windows is the safest medium from where people can be rescued.
The bodies of four women were fused and charred in the fire. They seem to have sat under a running tap hoping to save them from the disaster. A real question of concern, is the grills??
