One step forward, two steps back is India's story! censor board has given the green signal. the respective state govts should not poke nose into it. whats the point of censor board then?
Oflate there have been lot of restrictions in expressing the individual views..Like the likes on FB with regard to the Bal thakery death and the cartoons on politicians...And now Kamal has also become a victim to this..Something is fundamentally wrong with our govt..(both state and central:bonk)..hope i dont get into trouble for this comment:hide:
The other way, those who want to ban the movie is saying that the religion was shown in bad light, but the truth is they are supporting to Al Qaeda,..... movie revolves around terrorism ,and most likely kamal acts in the character of Muslim. As he quotes, definitely the movie is for proud Muslims.
Fence, one angle from which it can be analyzed is that, if law & order problem is to arise(although it is the duty of the government to protect the screening in normal times) to alarming levels. Some US people made anti-islamic film; protesting elements attacked the US consulate here at Chennai; the damage was substantial that a change of location of the consulate was discussed after the incident. To summarise, something is fundamentally wrong with the way Indian secularism is handled.
Nemesis If govt is agressive, these fringe elements will never dare to damage anything. see how congress govt handled mim party in hyd. every one was expecting massive riots and all but nothing serious happened. Imagine, its a party which is fundamentally very strong in hyd but this time, govt was firm for whatever the selfish reasons it might be. we have competent police force to deal with these opportunistic protestors. what we need is political will which support the police.
Don't forget to note that the action was after that hate speech went viral and some of the media was jumping over it... it was after that the government jumped to some action, after making some very weak excuses on why action wasn't taken immediately.
there is more to story than that actually. one of the reason they say, is MIM party is tilting towards Jagan's new party and recently both of them met in jail and it was a lengthy meeting. They say it did not go well with congress. As i said earlier, if govt is decisive and aggressive, they can really handle protestors and put them into respective places.
True.. I heard that too... that the MIM falling out with Congress did not help. If all was hunky dory as it was before, Akbaruddin would have just gotten away with the venom he spit.
