Hello all, I have friend who has filed tax returns with one of the financial services company ( got the reference thourgh several of his friends, who had filed taxes with the same company). It has been almost 5 months and did not receive the refund yet, despite multiple attempts to contact the person( has left around 50 voice mails and made trips to his office, the office seems to be closed most of the times and no responses to voice messages.) What is the best option to contact him? - one more thing, he had owed state tax and that was paid too, so there is ample record to indicate that the taxes were filed much before time.. Can someone give expert suggestions on how to proceed on this please? Thanks.

Shilpa If you have filed taxes through an outside CPA or consultant and once the papers are sent, now its on the IRS to send the cheques. the tax refund cheques are sent directly to the home address of the applicant and also they are sending a prior notice that they would be sending the cheuqes with in 15 days and with in those 15 days we received the cheques. how did he submit the tax papers..electronically or paper? because if it is paper mailed to IRS it takes a bit longer time.

Thanks Saahitya.. it was e-filing and the CPA was going to file on my friend's behalf..but how would I know the status not knowing if it was sent to IRS or not??..- The CPA is unreachable at this time.. Also, to give a little b/g.. My frined's in-laws were here last year and he needed them to sign a some papers for tax refund( donno clearly).. so the CPA suggested that they submit the available docs for tax filing and my friend could send the signed form by post.. My friend has sent it through regular post to the CPA. Now, I clearly doubt if his taxes were ever filed. Can this be handled leagally?/..anyone?? -Thanks

Shilpa as per my understanding...any visiting visas...we can submit their passport copies and if any TIN# is taken that we can submit...but no need any signature from the visitors..parents or inlaws...and by the way is it that the CPA closed his office? you can also call the IRS office and ask them how to proceed further with this kind of a problem and they would suggest and let you know...
