| Shobana, I am not in the workforce category. But for me, I get 100% say in the pros and cons of budgeting for home, investing and everthing, though i sometimes feel better if veda is more involved. Whether it is property, budgeting, i get to bring all the options to the table, then he comes in with his opinions and then we zero on something. Maybe that is why I never feel I am dependent on him...

| Hi Shobhana I agree with Shanvy, working or non working has nothing to do with making financial decisions in a household. I have seen many working ladies, simply handing over their salary to their husbands and finally having no say in any decision of household whatsoever. It all depends upon the couple's mutual understanding, both the individuals are equals, so financial decisions are supposed to be made together. we discuss about expenses and do the budgeting together only. |

| I agree with both of you - the reason I brought it up is to your point shine82 - there are plenty of women who work and have no say in anything. Did not mean to convey that working had anything to do with financial decision making. If I did, sorry! |

| Hi Shobana Great thread and interesting questions and answers. For me, I am a stay at home mom/wife. From day one till today I have 100% say in everything related to us. Most of the time what I say goes. But its always 50-50 on all issues and especially financial. my dh always thinks aloud regarding financial decisions so I am aware before we even make decision. Whatever we finally decide its something that we both agree on. Its my opinion that being consulted on decision really depends on the person/ and or persons. Irrespective of whether women are working or not I know depending on family circumstances some are involved in decision making process and some are not. |

| Dear Shobana, I'm into the workforce category and co-breadwinner for the family.I get to make all decisions on home bugdeting and other financial planning.I could say its joint effort from me and my DH. I agree with you that in many house holds, were women are working, they get no say about money matters. |

| Hi friends, Me too into the workforce, It is always a joint effort in my family when it comes to saving, budgeting, investing, etc. Though my husband is very gud in saving & investing , he definetly listens to my opinion & implements too is he feels my suggestion is effective. ![]()
