Dear Friends…..come on in and have fun with me making these simple, easy and cheap pom poms…….Just because I said “cheap” don’t think the work is cheap, here I am talking about the materials that I have used to make these.

Materials: Wool, can also be in many colours or multi coloured, scissors, thick cardboard, pencil, a small bangle and a coin and a paper knife (real sharp).

    Procedure:

Step 1: Cut 2 square bits from the cardboard as seen in the picture 1.

Step 2: Draw an Outer circle (I used a cellophane tape ring) and an Inner circle (used a coin).

Important Instruction Here: Make sure that the inner circle is not too big, try to make it smaller as this will save a lot of time when you start with the wrapping of wool. Mine took longer because of the big inside circle.

Step 3: Having drawn the circle now using the scissors cut the outer big circle and then with a sharp paper knife cut the inner circle along the dotted lines….hope I am clear till now !!

Step 4: Now as seen in picture # 4 try and place one circle over the other.

Step 5: Picture 5 shows how both the circles are placed one over the other.

Step 6: Now using the wool tie a strong knot to the rings (will be calling these as rings from now).

Step 7: Since it is difficult to work with a complete wool bundle cut the wool as long as 3-4 metres in length and start wrapping going in and out as seen in this picture.

Hope I am clear till now…….any doubts raise your hands !!!????
Hey, don’t get scared….this is just a hobby class and not a school…..hahahaha…….don’t worry about being caned !! I have had this experience in my 11th Std. I scored 5 marks lower than the earlier exam and my Chemistry Master Robinson (I still hate him) gave me 5 beatings in my left hand with a cane……you can imagine how many those fellows who failed must have got……still it is a nightmare and first time I am sharing this openly with you all……..

Step 8: Picture 8 shows how far I have completed the wrapping.

Step 9: Completed wrapping leaving just a little gap in the centre of the circle.

Step 10: Now holding the wrapped wool as shown in picture 10… make an incision through the wool and the place where both circles are joined and just keep cutting through till you completely finish.

Step 17: Picture 17 shows the second circle removed freely.

Step 18: Picture 18 shows that the Pompom is almost done and getting the trimmings to give it a neat appearance.

Step 19: Picture 19 shows a Ready to use POM POM !!

Some Uses: You can use as many as needed for a garland inserting beads in between and just joining one pom pom to another with the same wool.
You can make torans out of these.
You can use these as ruffles/buttons in a crocheted sweater…
