    Subasrini,

Nice to hear about planning the wedding menu. I'm literally drooling for a marriage feast and in the past I have done menu preparation for my sister's wedding.

    Here are the basic questions

    1. How many people are you expecting for the wedding?
    2. Do you have anyone to help you out for cooking?
    3. How many days is the function going to be?
    4. Are you going to cook only for the wedding?
    5. Are you particular about Veg or Non Veg( Non veg - Please ask our Non veg Experts in the Non veg forum)
    6. Did you check about the likes and dislikes, any food allergy of the family members?
    7. Have you started preparing the menu?
    8. Do you have enough vessels or can borrow it from friends or rent it out?

Update: Did you check with the bride/groom's family traditional menu items to be included?

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Dear Vidu,

First of all thank you very much for your detailed reply.I really appreciate it.Thank you so much.
But one main clarification. The marriage is a divine one. It is a Radha Kalyanam:) Our hari bhajan mandali here is conducting that.
Due to certain circumstances, as we are unable to have an elaborate wedding feast on the day of the kalyanam itself, we have decided to have a grand repast as part of the farewell for the bhagavathas on their last day with us for about 70 people(our mandali members and the bhagavathas).
We lady members of the mandali are only going to cook everything, each oneof us 1 item. I have started preparing a menu that includes Kasi halwa, tomato sweet pachadi, semiya payasam, 2 kinds of kosemalli, paruppu vadai, vazhakai podi curry, mixed veg sambhar, appalam, mysore/pineapple rasam, milagu/vathal kuzhambu, buttermilk and pickle.

What do you think about it?

    Subasrini,

Your menu is very good. Since its going to be potluck, you should be ok. Instead of 2 types of kosemalli you can substitute with one kootu,Just my 2 cents. Let me know if you have any questions.

    When is the Radha Kalyanam?

    Subasrini,

You've mentioned North Indian dishes , so would be a good idea to include some roti or poori and a masala sabji to go with it. Maybe a pulao variety, can also be included. As aval [poha] is Lord Krishna's favourite, maybe can make it as Poha [instead of semiya] Payasam too.

    Goodluck !

    Hai.

Nice to hear that for Radha Kalyanam you have taken the initiative of cooking.

As Grace rightly said, include poha payasam / poha kesari in your menu.

I liked your menu list and wish to join there for the festival. All the best for your efforts.

    Dear Vidu

The Radha Kalyanam is on 26th dec

As you say i will include aviyal there, will it be fine , the 2 kosemalli are 1 sweet (as usual Kadalai paruppu, coconut , and sugar) , one Karam (pasiparuppu green chilli), will it be ok. Kasi halwa for the Morning Breakfast.

Any other tiffin items u can suggest, other than usual ones.

Can u tell me how to do the Chepan Kizhangu varuval.

    Hi

We enjoyed the namasankeerthanam to the core, and the pravachanam by Vijay and Balaji Baagavathars about Vittal Leelaigal and Satguru Gnananandhar leelaigal were left everyone spellbound.

We had put a skit on Krishna Leela with our Mandali Kids.

I had tried out chembu varuval and it had come out well.

    Subasrini
