Hi,
Normally i boil the milk for about 12 mins in mw then cool it and put again for 1 min in mw. and put the spoon full of curd in the milk and put in the warm oven( preheat the oven for few mintues). It will set in 4 to 5 hours..just taste like curd in India...

I bought greek island yoghurt form trader joe's and set my curd and it tastes just like the curd we make in india..
I usually dont preheat my oven..Instead i switch on the oven light..I boil the milk and when its slightly warm i'll pour the a tbsp of curd mixed with lil water and keep it inthe oven..

You can prepare curd by warming it to a mild temperature and then you can add either a small (of the size of a nut) imli or half a piece of green chilli and allow it to form curds overnight. In India, my mother used to ferment curds when no curd is available at all using the above method.

Hi,

I normally boil the milk for about 10 mins in mw and keep it aside till it becomes lukewarm and then add 1 tsp curd, mix it and add one red chilli and will keep it in the mw overnight.
it will be like the curd which we make in india.
hope this helps.

I know the method of making curd but the fact is if i use whole milk yogurt or low fat yogurt or the buttermilk, the resulting curd i get is sticky like mucus

So which yogurt u all use as a culture, so that u dont get that stringy curd..
