Default Sad to see people cutting down on birthday parties during recession

Hi friends,

I just wanted to share a strange experience with you here. I was feeling very unusual about it.

Most of the people here are now cutting down on birthday celebrations and when asked for the reason, some of them said 'recession'. Even more sad part is that when i wanted to invite them for my kid's bday they were trying to avoid giving some excuses. Maybe this was to avoid spending on gifts.

I personally feel though i dont deny that during recession we should spend enormously on celebrations, but kids wait for their special day throughout the year.It is not necessary to spend 100s or 1000s of dollars on this day but if planned properly kids can have blast at low cost also.

Did anyone face such a situation?? How did you overcome that?

Just curious.
