Default A question about pooping

My Appu who is going to be 4 years old this December poops almost 2 to 3 times a day. I was wondering is this normal? If not, do I need to take him to the Ped? How many times does your LOs poop on a day?

Amitha, SHVAP_786. Heard of toddler diarrhoea? Do you think that could be the case? K went from once a day to 4 times a day, after every meal. We did take it to the paedi, she told us some children go through this, but outgrow by 5 years, so not to worry. Just wondering if this is the case here too?

Yes ... same here. Appu goes from sometimes once a day to 3 or more times, after every meal. If this regularises after 5 years then it is okay. I am releived to hear that. I haven't asked his Ped - everytime I forget.

I don't think there is anything wrong in going 2-3 times a day. Each kid is different, some go only once every 2 days, some go 2-3 times a day. As long as they are healthy otherwise and the poop is not unusual (watery, bloody etc) I wouldn't worry. My son goes 2 times on weekends and only once (in the evening) on weekdays since he is not comfortable "doing it" at daycare (More work for me but that is ok!)
