Would be born as a scare crow, In the top of the terrace. In the front room, Mummy’s torn cotton Sari, Would have changed , In to a hammock for the new born baby. In the marriage hall, Mummy’s golden bangles, Which were replaced, By imitation bangles, Would be giving music concert. In the hand’s of our younger sister. In the kitchen, Mummy’s, Torn blouse would be used, To hold the boiling vessel, In which rice is being prepared. In the drawing room, The edge of Mummy’s sari, Would be used to clean, Old photos hanging on the wall. When everybody is taking rest, our Mummy would be cooking, Food for all of us, to eat next time. The frame less photo of our mummy, Only came to the drawing room wall, When our mummy took rest, From which she would not wake up, We who were not bothered about her, When she was with us everywhere and alive, Are decorating her photo daily, With flowers, after she is no more with us. |
