Default Am I Cheated by this Dentist??

Friends,
I have a decay in two of my tooths and I didn't go to any dentists for a certain period of time even after I knew this because of fear in doing those fillings and everything. Slowly I started realizing that I might loose my tooths. So, went to a dentist nearby. He told me that I should do root canal treatment for both tooths and It would costs around 1800 bucks (in rupees). I said ok. But after this I should use a cap above that to make it look like a normal tooth. That cap itself costs around 3000 bucks.

For the other tooth,

for the root canal: 1800 bucks
Cap: 3000 * 3 = 9000; because thats the middle tooth. so he is providing support from the two side tooths. for that 3000.

I don't really understand if its really cost 15000 for two tooths. please friends. If you are a dentist, please help me to know if its worth of it.

Dear Uma ,

Yes sometimes RCT could cost around 1800/- Is this Dentist a specailist in that ? You could also try visitng another dentist if the cost is more for you.. RCT in general could cost anywhere between 1000 - 1500 usually. He is not cheating you on this maybe he is just expensive. You could check with another Dentist with the Xray that has been taken. But I am surprised.. did you have pain ?? If no, it can survive without an RCT is my opinion. However , one can confrm only after looking at the xray !

About the cap .. An RCT treated tooth needs a cap for sure to function normally. But then why this third tooth involvement is a bit confusing. You dont have to take a support for an RCT teeth if the roots are strong. Here , I feel he is not convincing. Please take a second opinion before getting your teeth drilled !! Take care
