Hi vidhya..

SOme points on this.

Reasons for not getting sleep:

1.Stress--Pondering over a problem(i think you have mentioned this)
2.Afternoon nap(long)
3.HEavy dinner
4.Sleep related disorders
5.Spending time infront of tv/pc monitor

Remedy

1.Following various relaxation techniques
2.Skipping nap
3.Change in food habits..Warm milk induces sleep
4.Visit a doctor
5.AVoid this

Having a quiet time for about an hr by reading or doing other activities induces sleep.

Hope this helps.

Have hot milk with a spoon of honey added to it before going to bed.

hi vidhya,
for the past few months, i too got my sleep cycles all messed up and couldn't sleep till 1 or 2 am... and consequetly the daytime too gets affected...can understand your friend's position...
ask her to use aromatherapy lavender lotion before going to bed...it invariably works...just rub a little onto your neck, hands, etc and take a deep breath...its a very calming scent and you'll soon sleep...
since you seem to be in the US, you can get it from Bath & Body works...i tried it sometime back, found it good... :)

Hi Kvidhya,

Here are the few tips of mine.

Count starting from 1 2.. and so on within her mind till she gets sleep. She should not think anything else and should concentrate on counting.I hope within 50 she will get sleep.

Ask her to take bath with warm or hot water before going to bed.

All the best.
