Default severe nose congestion

Hi

My husband is suffering from nose congestion for more than 2 weeks. His nose is blocked throughout the day sometimes he has one side of nose opened and sometimes he has runny nose. He do inhale vapours at least 3 or 4 times a day. i too give him some kashaayams, but nothing works...

We thought it is a regular cold symptom so we didnt go to doctor.. If it still persists, we have decided to go to doctor, but before that i just wanted to ask u ladies, if anyone has experienced this and what medication/drops or anything that can be used to treat this..

sanravi,

dry air from the heater causes that nose congestion....if that is the case.... Try these....
Do you have a humidifier in your room--cold air humidifier--this will help a lot.
Moreover, ask him to apply coconut oil or some oil with the help of cotton swab not deep inside his nose but inside... this will also help him ..

Hi Sanravi,
coconut oil acts a moisturiser for the lining inside the nose...which becomes dry due to the heat...

You can also try the vicks vaporub---in boiling water put some vicks and ask him to inhale it by covering him and the vessel with a blanket ( it is called kumbha saagam).

If you had watched the movie 'Sivaji' there is a scene where Rajni does with some lady artiste...I have mentioned this just to get some idea of what I am trying to explain...

you can also get the 'nasal spray' at the pharmacy in the cold and allergy section, which is an overthe counter drug, see to it that it has saline water as its base. this will also help him.

hi sanravi

i think your husband must be having pollen allergy, spring has already started and this is very common here. even my husband had it when we were in CA. just check yahoo weather for pollen levels, just ask him to try claritin, its for such allergies and its available over the counter and its the best.
