Hi all,

I joined orkut yesterday with the id Krithika Ravishankar. Also added "Indus Ladies" under the communities. Seems like once again, I had to hit the join button under IL in Orkut ..and then I could see my name displayed under the members. I thought it will be automatic..since I am already a member here.

Is this orkut really safe like Indusladies to share information?

Usually, I never join in these type of websites since I've always been skeptical.

Is it really managed and moderated well like IL?

Can someone please shed more light on this?

Even I have become member of Orkut ... but as Krithika said even I don't go to sites like this.. even I feel this site is not safer to share on things ... What do you all say ... ? anyway I am not interested to open that site ha ha ... Regards, Suni ...

for now will give the short one - No :).. dont share anything personal.. this holds good for anywhere in internet ;) including indusladies.. the reason i am saying is... even in IL if mods or admins are not around.. your private information is still vulnerable..

Orkut is a common public place where people can socially mingle.. You can avoid certain things in your profile to be hidden, like photos personal information etc [ but there are hacks to still see the hidden stuff]...Also your profile as such is open to public to see. They can send invites to join as friends or ask you to join.. its upto you to accept..

Unless you have a huge friends circle that you missed out in these years and want to create new friends or long last ones... Orkut is not a place to be in..

I guess the idea they have such a group in orkut is to get new members to join IL here.. Otherwise I dont see a point adding yourself there, when you can do the same forum chat here :)

Thanks for your reply (short answer) about ORKUT. I came to know about this site thru my brother and SIL. But I didnt join there for a long time, until I saw this in Indus ladies.

And you are right, the same forum chat we can do here in a more secured site like Indusladies.
Now, I am waiting for your long answer. .there is more?

Its not at all good to give personal info on Orkut, As Nandhu rightly said if u want to find about your friends with whom you have no contacts, it is the place where you can get hold of them, please dont even disclose ph #, address with your close buddies in orkut becoz anyone can access the scrapbook.

i heard from some of my friends that facebook is better than orkut ....but last week BBC exposed a loophole in facebook right...so looks like all of them are very unsafe..
