Default thyroid with goiter

Hi,

Recently I got a lump(swelling in the right neck). I checked it with general physician. She said it would be goiter or swelling of the thyroid gland. So she ordered for ultra sound.Still I don't know what the problem behind the lump?

Now I wonder what are my chances of having kids? Is there any problem concieving kids with thyroid problems?

Thank you.

Hi

I don’t think you need to be over concerned about this. But check if your swelling is increasing, how long since it appeared.. Hope you must’ve got your thyroid checked by this time. TSH,T4,T3 hormone levels can suggest if it’s a case of hyperthyroidism. Even I have a slight swelling in the thyroid since years (not increasing) and the hormone values also showed slight variation (towards hyperthyroidism). But now I’m the mother of a 1year old. So just mentioned my case to relieve your tension. But better consult with your doc for more info.
Wishing good luck.

Reshmi

Thanks for the reply.

Today only I got my pathology report and it revealed I don't have cancer cells. It is just a fluid filled sac. I have normal thyroid hormone levels. So now my endicrinologist just moniter my lump in the neck.

This lump is so uncomfortable...not for swallowing or breathing but when I go out I just cover my neck because of the strange looks of people.

How do u handle this lump. Is anyone asked u about it. What did u tell them?

Thank you

Hi
Even my “lump in the neck “ looks quite odd.. have faced many qns regarding the same..! I think it is more visible because of my lean nature.. and once you gain weight it may not be so prominent. What about your body nature? If you are lean do concentrate on gaining weight (which I’m trying but in vain !!!).
Hope you get more proficient guidance/ info from your doc. Keep cool and stay happy.
Regards,
Reshmi

Sorry for the late reply...I totally had forgotten this thread.

I am a medium fram girl but the lump is visible. When I swallow the lump dangle like a football...so annyoing thing.

Is there any treatment for this. I like to have kid and then remove this by surgery. But scared of depending on medication for life long...afetr surgery the life will always be on down hill...that is my biggest concern.
