Hi Aabi, This is the first time I'm writing in this forum. In my family, both my parents(my dad being a doctor) & my MIL have diabetics. My MIL has a similar condition as your mother. Her leg pain could be due to calcium deficiency . After consuting her doctor, she can take some calcium tablets and a drink called D-Protien (for diabetic patients). Everyday, she can soak her feet in warm water for 1/2 hour or so, which is very soothing & gives a good relief too. She can do this before going for a walk and before going to bed. She can take bath in warm water too. Ask her to stop taking rice at night completely - only rotis would do with lots of vegetables. Also no white bread. She needs to check her weight too. There are special footwear for Heal pain, which you can check with some good pharmacies. They will give you some contacts. She can start walking for 20 minutes per session - 2 sessions per day. You can try this for 3 weeks and check if it helps you. Don't worry , she would get well soon. Remember, diabetics is not a sickness, it's just a condition. Bye, Nakshatraa

All the symptoms you have mentioned are the side effects of high blood sugar..you have to control it...just check up why does it not come under control even after two doses of insulin. Check with a dietician and change her food habits...which will help in better control within a few days..it may be difficult but it is the best way...switch over ..there have been lot of threads where controlling diabetes has been discussed.... Give her massages, hot water fermentation...be careful to keep her foot clean without any cracks or cuts...as it will not heal properly if the sugar level is not controlled... Can understand what you are feeling...but be practical...learn to be firm with your mother regarding her walk and diet....it is only an suggestion...

| Hi Naksha, Thanks a lot for your tips. I shall definitely consult the doctor and get her the calcium tables and drink. Thankfully she is not over weight. She does this hot water soak once in a while. I was bit afraid to to every day. Iam trying my best to make her walk for atleast 15 mins. Let's see. Hope her pain goes off. Regards Quote:

Hi Shanvy, Thanks for your valuable suggestion. True, all this is due to high blood sugar level. It's kind of very difficult for my mother to switch over to the new type of diet. You know, how we south indians are. Rice, rice, rice, my mother can eat even three time a day. Iam trying my best to change her food habits. I shall continue with the hot water massage and see to reduce the blood sugar level. Truly appreciate your reply.

hi Aabhi, There is a machine like a tread-mill used by my sister. She says she need not walk on it. It moves and moves her body. I haven't seen it. It seems it is very simple. Let me get you the details of this machine. It will be of great help to your mother. Regards, Sharada

Aabhi, Trophox is another good drink for diabetics, it is a soya powder. Let her switch to lots of salads, sprouts, two rotis, diluted yogurt. Everything will take sometime but you will get results. For heel pain, if she can reduce body weight, it is ideal. Dr Scholl's has special slippers that will distribute the weight equally and reduce feet pain. Also, maybe she can try pranayamam and yoga. I had good results for my weight problem with both. Goodluck. Mom will be fine. We are all praying for her good health. regards Vidya

hi Aabhi, Here is the information about the equipment I talked about. Morning Walker Distributed by Kavya Enterprises. Certified by AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences-New Delhi) ph # 040-23400234 ph # 040-23400244 9866739993 It costs about Rs.6600.00 This mostly used by diabetic people. It is very easy to operate. It shakes the body so that pancrease is activated. People should start about 5 min and max time is 15 min. 15 min is equal to 10,000 steps. You can carry it where ever you go. Fits in a small box and very convenient. It is used for other medical conditions too. Don't be put off 'coz it is an equipment. Call them and talk. They will help you with more information. The best part is, it is certified by AIIMS. I'm So Sure this helps, Regards, Sharada

Dear Abhi, You can follow what Nakshatraa said. My parents were also diabetics and we used to follow what she said. Lack of b complex and calcium will give her the heel pain. It is a kind of prickly sensation Right?? My Mother also went through that. Please can you get her kidney checked up. Later we found that my mother's kidney had problems. So do have that check up also. My daughters MIL also went through similar problems , severe body pains etc. She also had kidney problems. So do please check it up. I pray to GOD let that not be the case. Love Latha ![]()
