Default need suggestion for hyperthyroid

Hai,
I hope you are consulting a specialist for this- an endocrinologist. If yes, follow the dr's advise. If no, please do consult a specialist. That will help.
My son has the same problems and I am consulting a specialist only. There was good improvement. I find that calcium is good for tat. You can try calcium supplement tablets and foods. But do consult dr. Get well soon.

Default Hypothyroid info

Hello

I am having hypothyroid since 15yrs old...I am seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist in US. I changed from eltroxin ( used for 10 yrs) to synthroid (last couple of years) which is very effective. You can also get generic medicines for the same. I also have a book written by Mary J Shomon. Many tips are useful in that book.. The name of the book is "Thyroid Diet".
While I was india I visited Dr Usha Sriram in Chennai. It was only for 2 months or so... My SIL told me she is the best .... If you are in chennai I recommend her. http://www.zoominfo.com/directory/Sr...ha_6491965.htm

Of all things my good old Endo tells me
- Eat right
- Exercise
- Take your medication regularly
- Drink plenty of fluids

Good luck...
laks

hai,
it was good info that you have shared, laks. My son's doctor is Usha. At present she is in US only. She will come back after 2 or 3 years. Any other useful tips you could post?
With warm wishes,
varloo

Varloo,

I suffer from hypothyroidism too. Unfortunately this is a metabolic disorder that requires consistent monitoring by the doctor. Levels will go up and down - it is nothing to worry about. Once your doctor finds the dosage that works for you, your condition will be pretty stable.

I was on Synthroid, but switched to generic Levothyroxine since my physicaian felt it was more accurately dosed.

Don't worry about reproductive problems and hypothyroidism - I conceived on my very first try inspite of my condition. The important thing is to take your medication religiously as directed by the doctor.

Hello,
Even I have hypothyroid from past 5yrs, you need to watch out your weight,
keep yourself calm, eat good food (high in fiber), excercise regularly and do the blood work every 6 months. Then you should be fine.
Taking medication is very important. Soy and cabbage will increase the thyroid problem and do have a time between calcicum supplement and the thyroid medication.
Keeping your thyroid level normal is very important else you will have lot of syptoms. There is no problem with conceiving the baby with thyroid problem.
I used to take synthroid initially, but my doctor changed it to lyvothyroxine, which didn't adjust to me, later I switched back to synthroid.
Keeping happy atleast with not stress and depression is very important, otherwise thyroid level will become abnormal.

take care,
punitha
