| hi all, I read in a website that one of the advanced symptoms- diabetics developing kidney disease are being weak, pale & anemic! If a diabetic patient is anemic...is it an indication of kidney failure? Is anemia & kidney related? Does any one of you know about this in detail?

| A Kidney patient should have good check on diabetes. Check for the WBC count, is it increasing rapidly every month, is your WBC going below normal, just have a check... Serum Creatinine ( I hope I have spelt it correctly) test, Complete Urine test, Sugar test, Blood test should be conducted regularly. Also please check your eyes. Preacaution is better than cure. Could be kidney stone too... Nothing to worry, may be nothing at all, and the fluid intakes are very less.... But advise check up. My intentions are not to frighten you, its only information...

| Thanks Malspie for the quick reply. My M-L is a diabetic, has BP & cholesterol. She regularly goes for check-ups. Recently Drs. had found out that she is anemic too. That made me to ask the Question Is diabetics, anemia, kidney disease are all related?

| If she is diabetic then her kidneys and eyes are prone to be effected gradually. Anemic condition shows poor health. You may have to get her check ups done. Does her B.P. fluctuate suddenly. Better get her check ups done and then we will discuss as discussions can only rise fear unnecessarily. .. Did you get that............ You may end up with sleepless nights. better go and get the check ups done. all douts cleared and life becomes merrier. I have already listed the syptoms...

dont panic. The reason that she is anaemic could be you are cutting off foods..because she is diabetic... Yes a kidney patient can be aneamic. since heart, kidneys are inter related. diabetics, kidney disease and heart disease are all related. Go for a lipid profile which gives the heart risk....periodically. never miss out on regular check up. get your ml on cholesterol free diet... There are tests which will help you rule out kidney problem. As malspie has said serum creatinine and along with it bun - blood urea. these two figures will give you the verdict. go to a cardiologist for a checkup..along with your regular check up....along with it as for Then one way of knowing if she is having a problem is if she has 1 ltr of water, the output urine should be more than 1ltr. and she should not have swelling in her legs and body..you will know when the legs and face show a bloated look. If you have any doubts can ask....but relax..your panic will cause more stress...
