Most important and contributing factor these days is SINGLE SON.
Earlier ppl have 2 or more sons.. hence they wud harass only 1 DIL at max and remaining marriages were upto husb & wife issue.

Now almost everyone is having only 1 son, insecurity rate is higher and hence the reason for disputes & change in statistics.

it is true that divorce rates have gone up.It shows that women will not take disrespect, abuse,EMA's etc lightly.

The article has said don't marry a woman with a career. I was like :rotfl

In the previous generations, women used suffered a lot and lot .That's why rest of population is happy for one person suffer. These days women are not ready to suffer and trying to live the god given life, that's why divorce rate going high.As long as people are happy with what they are doing then shouldn't be a problem with divorce rate high or low.
Actually this generation is in transistion to accept the women and her rigths and giving her value.May be the next generation may not have an issue of trasistion period and both women and men will have equality in marraige from the beginning.

    Thanks for Sharing.
Most of the previous generations parents showed difference in raising a son vs a daughter. Though they wanted to give good education to their daughters as well, they failed to treat both son and daughter the same way in everything like doing household works. So when the daughter gets good education she develops self-confidence and expects the respect she deserves. But the son, because of his raising, he still thinks it is not his job to share the household work and that applies for making decisions as well. The previous generation sons and daughters are this generation husbands and wives. Then comes the problems.
As a parent of this generation we should not show any difference in raising our kids, so the next generation women do not have to go through what we do and also most important both our son and daughter will have good family life in the future.

I agree with funloving. its really true the problem is in the roots; hence we have to change that in this generation to give a better living for next generation women.

As 'funloving' said, the brought up difference was there between a son and a daughter..But we forget to think 'who raises these kids?' Its a women who brought up these kids of the previous generation and SHE herself had the descrimination between her son and daughter..
And when she becomes MIL, she will treat her DIL the same way or bit worse than that, which is obvious..
To get a future generation with no gender discrimination, mothers are the key persons..
Let us pray all mothers treat both boys and girls similar, and when a boy grows in such an environment where his sister is respected, he'll show it back to his wife...
