Smile dont know what to do ???

Hi Gals,

I am a 30 yr old working mother, I have been married for 4 years.,My hubby is a single child of his parents, so my in laws are tooo possesive about him,Frankly speaking my mom in law is really a caring person but suppose if i and my hubby go out for movies, she make long faces , I dont know how to tackle the situation, sometimes I try to take my mom in law for shopping or for movies then she is happy , but whenever her son takes me out she is not happy with the scenario,
My father i n law is a very frustrating person, after retirment all the day he sits at home n tries to fight with everyone [excluding his son],he tries to find fault in my household work etc, etc.
I really need some suggestion to tackle the family problem, please help

Thanks,
Rums5577

Default Re: dont know what to do ???

HI! Rums,

I know exactly how u feel as I am in the same boat as you. But, to my benefit, my Hubby knows his parents very well and knows exactly how to handle them.

The first thing you need to do is to ensure that ur ILs have a life of their own. Involve them in activites that they can do together. For eg. if there is a social group in your city then register them in the group where the group will arrange movies, plays, day trips, tours get togethers etc for them where they can go and meet people their own age and socialise. This will give you some time with ur hubby. Also, they will make new friends and their minds will be occupied.

What my hubby did - He gets 2 days off in a week. We spend one day together and the other day we spend with them doing thngs that they want to do. If they want to go to a movie, we take them out for a movie and for dinner. Or we take them to the temple (different temples each time if there is nothing else to do) and dinner wherever they want to go. On special occasions like our birthday and anniversary, we go out for lunch and then dinner all of us go together. For their b'day or anniversary we take them out.

Also, we arranged for MIL to meet her friends on a regular basis. She has 2 groups of 4 each now and they meet at one person's house every month. So, twice a month she has those outings to look forward to.

I hope these suggestions are helpful. If I can think of anything else I will write more.

As for ur FIL cribbing you will have to turn a deaf ear to it.

Regards,

Falguni
