| This morning when I went for a morning walk with my cousin, she told me a very interesting thing that she had come across the internet. It was a feature on how divorces were contributing in a major way towards the ecological imbalance of the earth! The point of view of the author was that when a divorce or separation occurs, very obviously, the husband and wife splits ways. Till then, along with their lives, they were also sharing household equipments like the refrigerator, the television, the washing machine, the computer, the car or two-wheeler, the microwave, the geyser, the cooking gas connection, etc. but after the divorce, as both go on their separate ways, one of the two is forced to buy one more set of the very same equipments, for their personal use! That leads to more consumption of electricity and natural gas along with increased emission of gasses that damage the earth’s protective layer. This is how a divorce contributes to the earth’s ecological imbalance. Considering the fact that divorces are becoming more common these days, isn’t this a scary prospect??? |

| hmmmmm interesting thought. I guess its hard to measure the impact to its fullest. One this is for sure. when a pair gets divorced, they don't jump start a relationship very quickly. Some yes, but most take a breathing time, emotional recovering etc... this toll takes some time and so they tend to live alone. During this time, they have to buy Fridge, stove, car etc... So the damage is sort of already being made. Even if they get into a relationship not all of them gets used. they sell it and some buys it cheap and use it as a beer fridge in garden. really hard. the last thing in a just divorced persons mind is Ecological problem. very difficult to force it as well.

| Hi Pree, It is not just the divorce that is adding to the ecological problem...what about nuclear families??? kids going their own way ones they are 18 etc. In the name of personal space, we forget that we are occupying the ecological space and doing more harm than good. For eg: If 3 brothers are living in the same city but separately...maybe all 3 of them are occupying a 3 BHK flat...that means they are using 15 rooms. If they were to live together they could have done with a 5 BHK flat which would mean 7-8 rooms in total and see the savings not only of the natural resource but also the amount of money, the moral support from each other etc. Roopa. |
