Default Just thought of writing..

I am a little sad today. Its my first diwali after marriage and I am in the states – miles away from my family and the telephone seems to be no consolation.
I don’t know the reason but when I was away from my parents before marriage - it never felt so painful… and now I just want to rush home to my mom, cling to her like a 2 year old would have and just watch her do all the ceremonies for today. The more I am drawn to my own parents after marriage, the more I feel pulled apart from my MIL and FIL. The difference between mere ‘spoken love’ and ‘heartfelt love’ maybe!

Probably I am just home sick and missing everyone back home.
Happy diwali everybody!

Love
Charu..

It is true, Charu that we all feel the same during festive and other situations too!
It is home-sick and also that we are slowly realising the value of our parents and their sacrifices, only after marriage!

Hi Charu,
Too bad that you are feeling depressed on a festival!

Married life is a fine balancing act. It is not easy to keep every one involved satisfied, let alone happy.
And this depression is intensified in a foreign country where there are no outward celebrations of the festival.
I miss India the most during festivals... all the hungamma, shopping, traffic jams, the incessant bursting of crackers, the smoke....

But take heart, try to cheer up. Wear new clothes, shop some... count your favourite things.. This is what I do.
In my house I am the barometer (!) of cheerfulness... If I am happy then everyone else is so... It is a huge responsibility being the woman in the relationship. It helps to have an understanding man...

Oh Oh I am now depressed. I am going to gorge on some goodies and forget about my waistline!

We appreciate our mothers as wives after we get married and as mothers once we become mothers!!!!

Dear Gayathri
you just echoed my feelings and thoughts!
And trust me, i understand evry bit of what you are trying to say. Nonetheless, at times these things become huge to be dissipated in a wink. and it upsets me even more when my husband feels bad on seeing me low.
Anyways, this was also the reason i wanted to write about my feeling and what beter a forum than IL

Dear Abha
i completely understand what you are going through. But i make it a point not to let muma/papa know about it.... it is a big support for them to be thinking that we are so happy to be with our husbands and married life that we dont miss them all that much!

Lets keep the dessication of feelings aside and enjoy the day!

Cheers!
Love
Charu..
