| mahadev mali:Pramod Mahajan is the difference of Maharashtra Election? Pramod Mahajan would have been alive the result could be diffrent. |
Rajdeep Sardesai: pramod mahajan's daughter lost by 20,000 cotes! the bjp missed mahajan, but one person cant decide an election result! |
| Saurabh Khanna:Hi Rajdeep, Two questions, where is Yogendra Yadav? I am missing him badly. Secondly, what a wonder in Haryana, how do you analyse it? Maharashtra gace Cong-NCP an unexpected Majority but Haryana is a complete surprise... your views please |
Rajdeep Sardesai: yogendra is on a year's sabatical, writing a book. Haryana, as i said, is a defeat of a certain politics of taking the voter for granted, wrong selection of candidates and an arrogance that politics can be a one man show. if the opposition had been united in haryana, the congress could have suffered a real debacle. |
| Shirish Bokde:What does Congress-NCP winning in Maharashtra mean to a common man? |
Rajdeep Sardesai: the common man must hope for a stable govt, beyond that he shouldnt expect any dramatic change in his life. |
| hdesai24:Why is that in maharashtra Congress has been able to rule for more than 40 years with oppostion not able to form the government except for once ? Wasn't load shedding, framer suicde helping the oppostion ? |
Rajdeep Sardesai: the congress has a large social and political base in maharashtra, built through the 50s and 60s. that social base has not completely disntegrated which is why its tough to fight the congress in maharashtra |
| shahu:Do you think that bjp+shivsena failed to use the 26/11 issue for their campaign? how much it would have been made different ? |
Rajdeep Sardesai: 26/11 was never an election issue, nor was it going to be one. dont think people trust any party when it comes to dealing with terror. its an election neutral issue! |
| Pravin Kamath:As an individual Rajdeep Sardesai and not as a Media person , what is your heart say on all these election debates are they worth debating! debating on topics with politicians where you dont get real answer they only talk politics and confuse people and confused aam admi speaks from his heart but no one listen to him.Has any of your debate ended in a good solution for the benift of a common man so far! Regards Pravin |
Rajdeep Sardesai: i think debate is important in any society, but if you expect debate to provide solutions, i dont think thats going to happen. |
| prashanth reddy:Will you foresee a situation in Haryana similar to that of Cong-JD(s) Coalation Government in Karnataka in 2004. B.coz. the trends seems to suggest that it's a fractured verdict. |
Rajdeep Sardesai: i think the real question in haryana now is that of kauan banega cm. once the cm is decided, there should be relative stability. |
| C S Parhadkar:In your view how has Congress NCP had performed in last 10 years |
Rajdeep Sardesai: through the day, we've asked congress ncp leaders to give us five achievements in the last ten years. they havent been able to give one concrete achivement!! |
| shekar:dear rajdeep, is there any possibility of revival of 1985 days for congress? can we read these results in that way/ shekar |
Rajdeep Sardesai: i dont see the congress returning to a brute majority of the kind they had in the 1980s. india is fragmented, and i dont see a one party dominance in the near future. |
| Gopi Shah:Rajdeep, I am student of Political Scinece. What is the role of smaller parties in Indian Politics? Damager or handtool of some of the leading political parties? Should small parties be banned fighting election? Should the parites who get letss than 10% of vote share be punished severelt so that unwanted smaller parties can be keep out of the election scenerio? |
Rajdeep Sardesai: i dont think you can keep smaller parties out of an election. they have every right to exist. if the larger parties dont respond to their workers needs, the rise of the smaller parties is inevitable. the party structure is disintegrating of the larger parties |
| mohan chitale:do you think now atleast balasab will bridge the gap between udhav and raj forseeing the bombay muncipal election, and do you think is it the victory for ncp-cong govt or the victiry due to unorganised leaderless bjp and infighting in thackery family in maharashtra |
Rajdeep Sardesai: i dont see how raj and udhav will come together again. this is a fight for the future of the sena, and neither raj nor udhav will pull back. if balasaheb could not bring them together, no one else can. its too late now for a reunion, now its a fight to the finish |
| Venkatraman C.P.:Is this a political victory for congress or an arithmetic victory? |
Rajdeep Sardesai: its a victory in maharashtra of arithmetic over chemistry!! |
| krishna:What is the secret behind congress victories? |
Rajdeep Sardesai: the congress is positioned at the moment as a more cohesive unit and inclusive party than the opposition. that helps. at the same time, as haryana has shown, arrogance and complacency can still trip the congress. |
| Dhrimeet Deb:What are the chances of Vilasrao Deshmukh coming back as the CM of Maharastra? |
Rajdeep Sardesai: dont see vilasrao making a comeback. once the congress crossed 140 seats, the chances of a change in leadership in maharashtra dwindled |
| chandrashekhar:Can MNS raise to power till next elections, though Raj was willing this time also? |
Rajdeep Sardesai: i think mns at the moment has a limited appeal.. dont see it coming to power in the future, but there is little doubt that it represents a constituency which cannot be ignored. |
| Michael:Dear Rajdeep Sardesai, waht about your view on the result - "Is it by central govt performance or all by states issues"? |
Rajdeep Sardesai: state elections are fought on local issues, but a local state level leadership does matter. also, the victory in the general elections did give the congress a 'bounce' advantage in the vidhan sabha |
| Giridhar:After election results in Maharashtra, will Congress try to weaken the strength of NCP ? |
Rajdeep Sardesai: i think the balance of power has shifted between the ncp and the congress. the ncp is now clearly the b team of the congress, and the congress will now push the ncp to merge with it |
| John .F:How one can just pass a casual remark on EVM . Its not just leadership crisis anymore in BJP but crisis of issues.. |
Rajdeep Sardesai: the remark on evms by mr naqvi was most unfortunate. to virtually accuse the election commission of rigging with no concrete evidence is unfortunate. |
| chandrashekhar:Has BJP become a regional party ? what abt its National staus ? With a leader of the level of Pramod Mahajan gone, Advani and Vajpayee no-where to look into Party matters & Sangh Pariwar hold on decline in BJP. Even the RSS chief was changed in a day (Its Mohan Bhagwat now) |
Rajdeep Sardesai: i think the bjp can still be an effective national party, its still in power in several important states, but the party needs to balance its core hindutva ideology with a more modern, inclusive vision, and provide a stronger, more focussed leadership |
| h_jani:Dear Rajeep, I am good fan of yours since you have been involved with NDTV, and so now with CNN-IBN My qyestion related to this state election is "WHERE IS THE BJP? |
Rajdeep Sardesai: the bjp is in a crisis. its a crisis not just of leadership, but of identity. how does the party adjust to a new india, an india that now looks beyond militant hindutva, an india that is aspirational. |
| BR:Hi Rajdeep, Whom do you think will form the government in Haryana. Whom the Governer should ask to form the government in case Mr. Hooda not able to get the required support from independents |
Rajdeep Sardesai: the governor will have to first invite the single largest party, but he should only get them to form the government after they show how they will get the numbers |
| Vaibhav Kakirde:do u think its an end of an era of shivsena=marathi manoos....n marathi ppl have strtd looking for new bala saheb..."raj thackray"!!! |
Rajdeep Sardesai: i think raj thackeray has carved his image in the mould of bal thackeray. a party like the sena needs a macho leader, who will talk tough.. that why raj is attractive to the marathi manoos, esp the younger generation |
| Nitin:why with less than 6% votes MNS is being seen as a big factor |
Rajdeep Sardesai: because 6 per cent when concentrated as the mns vote is, can make a huge difference |
| Ahmed:Is the Win represent a clear indication of Rahul as Next Prime Minister |
Rajdeep Sardesai: lets not give rahul credit for every congress victory, or blame him for defeat. rahul was not a factor in the state elections. however, i do believe that the general impression of the gandhi family and the prime minister is positive, esp in rural india |
| Deepak Malik:Hi sir, myself deepak malik.Am from Rohtak, My question :- Is Really Cong. Win Mandate. when a party win in recently M.P elections and won 9 out of 10 seats and now facing close fight from INLD who had wrost record in M.P elections and had gotted only 9 seats in 2005 assembly elections.so it doesn't show that the people want change in haryana. |
Rajdeep Sardesai: haryana is the story of these elections. hooda's haryana number one campaign was a bit like the nda's india shining campaign. arrogance and complacency has cost hooda a clear majority. people dont like arrogant leaders |
| manojkhade:Congress-NCP winning this election just because of split of opposition votes, Do you agree? |
Rajdeep Sardesai: i think the split in the opposition made a huge difference. the anti incumbency vote got completely fragmented |
| KISHAN PRASAD:What do you think is the future of BJP and Shiv Sena Alliance? |
Rajdeep Sardesai: i think the bjp sena alliance needs to go back to the drawing board. the sena has to deal with the rise of the mns, the bjp will the declining attraction of militant hindutva and the leadership question. |
| praveen patil:Hi there, A lot was talked about MNS party & how it could be an important factor in this election. But going by the results so far (10 win, 3 lead) can a party with 13 seats make a difference to in maharashtra politics? Also wasn't MNS overhyped by the media? Regards, Praveen |
Rajdeep Sardesai: the mns may win seats, but made a difference between defeat and victory for the saffron alliance in atleast 25 to 30 other seats. in effect, his presence damaged the sena alliance in mumbai thane nashik. he is the newsmaker of this election |
| CS:How do you see path ahead for MNS from here after getting 13 seats and proving their point partially? |
| Rajdeep Sardesai: I think raj thackeray has proved that he is a competitor for the shiv sena 'marathi manoos vote. he will now bide his time and try and capture the shiv sena in the post bal thackeray era |
