I love madurai and I was norn and brought up and I will say this the best place in the whole world for me .So I was wondering some of the unique dishes that Madurai offers .I came up with a list .Please share your favourte dishes too
1.Masala Kilangu :from Nagapatnam
They make this spicy hot potato kari that goes well with roti or satham and its sold only on nagpatnam packed in lotus leaves in a conical shape and wow its very tasty and they sell out pretty fast .I have never tasted anything like that ever and I just love that .ALthough I don't know if they still pack in lotus leaves .
I tried to get that this time during my India trip but no luck
2.Vellai appam from Gopu Iyengar ( I make it a little close to it )
3.Adai from Alagar Kovil
4.Murugan Idly kadai Idlies
Ofcourse who can beat the taste what these foods can offer .Although I am good cook i can never reproduce the recipe of the masala kilangu

I was there in Mdu a long time back.. I am not sure of the name.. was my last day in MDu and me and dad went to this place called food court .. the food was awesome.. as I was in hostel I used to crave for good food. I liked visiting the arya bhavan, british bakery.. there is one restaurant opposite american college... the chilly parota is awesome there...
Ofcourse we friends used to hang out in british bakery and junk on the snacks there...
