Other than eatables.... I love the Malli (Jasmine) in Madurai !

i would like to add meenakshi bhavan & pakkoda. u'll never get these type of pakkodas in the whole world. only in madurai. its unbelievable & its true. other than madurai pakoda means thool bajji only. only in madurai pakkoda is a different dish.

and want to add one more thing that is madura coats sangu on time everyday. as i remember it never delayed. and ofcourse meenakshi temple which is very unique.

Wow!! Pakodas and thool bajji...how did i forget?bonk And Tube Pepsi..I dont know whether they sell this now. I remember buying around 2-3 tube pepsi's of different colours daily.

During my school days, there used to be a vendor sellung ice, sarbath and other cool stuff.. the ice would be shaven like carrots on a scraper, and then put into a glass tumbler and a stick would be placed on the crushed ice...lo! it would become a candy ice..some sarbath juice on it..heavenly taste for 5 paise...We students would like to suck the essence off and ask for fresh serving on top of the remaining ice...pure fun.

yes yes how i forget? kulfi, mango,ariya bhavan swetts, raja barli butter ban, wowwww................. what a taste

There was Pitchai with the dadabba mittai..the mittai would come in a iron dabba,,hence the name. He would also sell Manga keethu spiced with the kaaara podi, his nick name was kottai Pitchai..sellin a keethu for 5ps..life was around 1 rupee maximum..15ps for bus,that made 30 ps up and down, ink was 5 paise..paper note book was 1.94 a quire notebook-a paise for a page,textbooks were available second hand at the end of the year from a senior at one -third the price of new one. Fees was Rs.20 per year for english medium..but then the pension my father got was Rs.300 per month..
