3. Doubling of broad gauge line from Madurai - Chennai is under work.

4. Madurai-Chennai ELECTRIFICATION work will be over by 2009.

6. KOODAL NAGAR - Another full-fledged railway station for Madurai by 2009.

7. Rs.150 crore sanctioned for Madurai railway junction to change it into world class A1 status railway junction.

Wow. My birth place is becoming so big!. I was wondering where to settle down after my stints abroad. Now, Madurai attracts me.

Don't think I am discouraging your thoughts but with these developments, the city will become as Cosmopolitan (like Bangalore, Coimbatore and Hyderabad - Second Tier Cities) not an Metropolitan. Adlabs already bought Ganesh theatre (Ramnad Road-Kuruvikaran Saalai) and converted it as their first singleplex. I know we are already having Cafe Coffee day chain in Madurai. I seen a lot of high rises are coming around. The central flower market shift near to Mattuthavani and the paddy warehouse also is next to the market. I heared that the central vegetable market also coming there.

More than that the conversion of the Anna Bus Stand started already. The Airport expansion is slew down because of some political turmoirs in that area (the conversion into international was cancelled because of the threat of terrorists at the time of Coimbatore Bomb blasts). We are having connectivity from Chennai, Coimbatore and Bangalore via air (Jet, Deccan, and Indian). If the airport is converted into international we will have flights to Srilanka, Australia, Singapore, and a lot of South East Asian countries as Madurai is an easy connecting point. We are already having passport office (which I last heared not yet opened).

We are already having some pubs in Madurai attached with 3 star hotels (in which the business people like to have their meet with the foreign delegates). And so on.

But one thing is sure. I already seen the cultural slew down as I seen a lot of gals visiting temples with exposing costumes (I accept that I seen gals in the temple as I'll notice the visitors in the temple). I donno how much it will go down. The god only need to save...

thank u verymuch for ur information. now i m in us. my life was there in mdu before my m'age. my husband is also fr mdu. so i'll be visiting anyhow to mdu always. i heard the news that some ITparks r coming to mdu soon fr my parents & in-laws. but i never think this much changes & expansion is going to happend in mdu. i m really very happy abt that. i couldnt express it in words. i'll pray for god for all those developments to be happen soon & without any interuption.I LOVE YOU MADURAI.
