Need help. There is a divorce petition filed in 2011 in Chennai court. The case is dragging till date (several rounds of counselling and mediation failure ) and has come to a status of submitting proof of affidavits and hearing. I would like to know how long this will take to end the case if the contestant is appearing only on alternative hearings. How long can the contestant drag the case. any other option to get the case completed soon.

The contestant is not ready for mutual consent.

The contestant knows the court will rule without his presence if he fails to appear before court successively for many hearings so he/she is coming consecutively. Can you or your lawyer make the other party agree for a mutual divorce that seems to be the only option as the contrestant seems hell bent on dragging on this case. In that case they will make use of every loophole. Your lawyer will be the best person to answer how long the case will drag?
