| Wait.. Wonderful and painful word. Its one word which can keep you engrossed, hooked and also frustrated sometime. For me, wait only has added beauty and wisdom in everything I did or chose. Like for my sister's wedding, we had hard time finding right guy. It was a long wait. But a good wait. When my BIL's proposal came through, my father was not even sure if it will work. Because we had our remote cousin aunt's daughter married in same house. And that cousin aunt had anything but well wishes for us. Reason, at one point my dad rejected her profile for him. People nurse their wounds too long. But I convinced my father to still give a whole hearted try. He finally went and things worked out in two weeks. I still get credit from everyone for this. Then wait was engg selection. I had burnt all midnight oil in preparing for entrance. While taking exams, I knew in exam room that I will get through three out of four competitions I had prepared for. I came back home, and told my father to prepare for my hostel expenses. He was kind of shocked to see his normally non-boasting daughter claiming big. But I did get calls for all those three colleges. The wait to get in to the college was just too much. Then the first job, I was branch opener in my college to get first job. I still remember the hysteria college and hostel had for my job celebration. We all had a on-spot dance party in college canteen. Something we have never done. There were some 400 boys and girls. Half of them I didnt know. Thats different thing that it shooted my semester expenses. It costed me 5000 rs ten years back.. Thanks to my dad, to not say anything. He was too happy for my job too. After getting the job, we had to wait tio finish college and then join. That wait to have first salary in hand was just too much, After that only thing I had waited was my marriage. Though I didnt really want it early. But I enjoyed the wait persuing my hobbies, studies and having lots of friends. And I would say, hubby's proposal was best one for my taste. Even though I rejected lots of so called hi-fi profiles. But they didnt have what I was looking. When I first talked to my now-hubby. I Knew this is right blend I am looking. So wait was all worth here too. Now I would say, I am waiting to have my kid in my life. Another wait would be to get my favorite University award me my favorite degree. I am waiting for one more thing, to open a small school in some remote village in India and run it in my old age. Seeing some kids from that school become big will be my ultimate wait realized. | Very nice thread Ansh. Ria, nice to read your wonderful waits! And all of them turned out with such stellar results at the end! Great going. I had a tough time picking a few from my huge list J. Luckily, for me too all waits have proven one thing - it all ends up nice and pretty at the end! - The most poignant wait in my life until now was the wait for my Mom to recover from a heart aliment. I was in the 5th grade then. It happened to her out of the blue. One fine morning she woke up and started to feel uneasy. By that evening she had collapsed – her heart had completely stopped. She had a heart block. Luckily we were in the hospital by then and the doctors were able to resuscitate her. Normally it took a person 24-48 hrs to come out of danger. It took her 9 days to come out of danger. She was in the ICCU for a few weeks and it was a 4 month long recovery process from there on. She came home after 4 months and with a pacemaker in her body. The wait to get a normal life back and have Mom around again was the toughest wait I have experienced so far. And I hope it was the last wait I experience of this kind. It was a wait that toughened me up and made me realize early on in life to never take anything for granted, to make the most of what I have and to enjoy every day to the hilt. - Wait to one day meet some of the people I look up to. JRD Tata and Kiran Bedi, to name a few. I could never meet JRD (I still regret that very much!). I did meet Kiran Bedi a couple of times. Among other things, I am very passionate about women’s issues and women/girl child empowerment and she epitomizes that. So I got a lot of good insights from her. The day I met her the first time, is still vivid in my memory. I was in 12th grade then. - Wait to ensure that the guy I got married to thinking he is the ideal life partner for me, is indeed the ideal one! This one was the sweetest wait of all! I think it takes a couple of years to ensure that the choice you made was indeed the best. Needless to say, the wait was rewarded much more generously than I could ever wish for! J - I have a fancy for fast cars and for driving fast. It was one of my dreams to drive on Germany’s Autobahn one day because it had no speed limits. 3 years ago my wait ended when we made a trip there, just for driving pleasure! Well, now the Autobahn does have speed limits on some portions. But some portions still have no speed limits. I was no match to some of the speed buff German drivers but I enjoyed myself to the hilt. J - Then there is the everyday wait to get home and be with my kids and husband. - I wait for the day when I will be able to contribute meaningfully in empowering women and the girl child from all strata of society, to lead a content and happy life. To help them learn to live in harmony and co-exist happily with everyone around them, yet feel empowered to chart their own course of life. - I wait for the day I can be of service to old people who do not have near and dear ones to care for them. I would love to bring sunshine in their life every single day with my company and my service to them. SS Last edited by SoaringSpirit; 18th February 2008 at 01:21 PM. |

| Hi SS My wait to see you post in this thread is over and it was really worth it. Again, you wrote so beautifully. You mince even a single word. Wow! you met Kiran Bedi. I have lot fo admiration and tremendous respect for this lady. I met Mrs Sudha Narayan Murthy. I was so excited to meet her. She is epitome of simplicity, courage and self-confidence. I wish there would have been more ladies like her. I wish all your waits get over quickly as they are in philanthropic interest. Best wishes Ansh Quote:

| Mrs. Murthy is another lady I admire hugely. I want to spend just a day with her to see how she does it. Her simplicity and simple living are the things that amaze me the most. Lucky you Ansh to have met her. I am sure it was a memorable meeting. SS Quote:

| Yes SS It is memorable and will stay with me for ever. She was surprised to know that I had read her Interview in RD. She was the first lady to have joined Tata's. She wrote a strong letter to JRD Tata, when the post advertised for mech Engg. mentioned males applicant may apply. I don't remember the contents of the letter. But, if i get I will forward them to you. After receiving the letter, JRD Tata called her and she was grilled for over two hours(A sensible man of those days could only have done that, I don't think any Industrialist of today would give such an encouragement) and then she was offered a job. Ansh
