Thank you Lee for sharing your experience. No, I haven't made up my mind yet on C-Section but that somehow sounded like an easier option. However, I confess that I did not know about things like Epidural etc which can help reduce the pain. Every is telling me that a normal delivery is good even in the long run. So, I guess it makes sense to go for a normal delivery.

I am yet to finalize of a gynic. Once I do, I will have a better picture on what is going to happen. thank you for the book suggestion. I will buy that book for sure.

Hi Rakhii,
I feel i can combine this thread with existing thread on same subject.... Hope you will find it useful...
Fear of Birth....Need advice

Women have internal strength to overcome pregnancy & its associated pain! Women are more stronger than men! You will find your strength when you go to delivery! Stay positive.
Baby dust to you...

rakhi, i would just defer here, incase u end up in a c section, recovery these days isnt so bad. i was up on my feet 6 hours after delivery, fed my baby within 2 hours of delivery.
my incision(external) healed completely in 2 wks. i only see a scar now..and i started to feel quite "normal" within 2.5 wks. recovery is upto u, an extremely laid back life postpartum would make u lousy anyway, that doesnt mean u hv to overdo... but tiny little walks and simple baby chores will help in ur recovery.

dont get me wrong that i am vouching for c section here. but i hv had both, and i dont think its as bad as it has been talked about.

however, as i mentioned before ,we are "designed" to deliver normally , and strength just comes somehow!
whatever u may choose, dont feel guilty , and make sure u chalk out ur birth plan and discuss it with ur OB in advance.

Rakhii

I have the same fear as well, over that I have zero tolerance for pain and whenever i see labour vids OMG it freaks me out.... thinking what i will be doing.

I'm solely depending with the hope of Epidural

I was talking to my DH yesterday that what if I want to opt fr C-section , if i cant take the pain and he said hospitals will not do it........ unless its a risk fr your life. So i guess I got to prepare my self mentally for anything , which is not easy.

I'm going to India for 4mnts so I plan to take Yoga classes it helps you a lot, so you might want to try taking Yoga classes or birthing classes as it helps your self confidence and ppl who do exercises have less painfully experience .

Hi Dubbi,

I have a question thats come up in my mind and didnt find the right answer anywhere.

I have read thru most of the posts and replies about Labor and Delivary. I recently got to know that during delivery the baby comes out first and then the placenta. I hope I have understood it right, if so then how is the baby connected with the mother !

What happens after the baby is born to the mother ! i.e. does the vagina contract immediately / is any mediaction given there !

Am in my 24th week of pregnancy with my first baby... looking forward for your reply.

Luv
Maggie

Rosenav

Which city are you going to? i will see if I can find any goos classes for you.

Maggie

The placenta is attached to the uterus wall and exchange of oxygen and blood happens there. The placenta has a cord called the umblical cord which is long and connected on the other end to the baby at the navel. So the blood flow in and out exchange happens.

Buy a good pregnancy book and read, also go to childbirth classes.

Once the baby is born , the placenta will also deattach from the uterine wall and willl come out.

Cheers
Deepa
