| For Koftas 1 1/2 cups leftover rice 1/2 cup grated bottlegourd salt to taste 1 tbsp chopped corriander 1 tsp rice flour 1/2 tsp chilli powder / 2 green chilly oil to to deep fry For Gravy 2 red chilli 8-10 cashewnuts 1 tomato 1 onion 2-3 garlic 1" piece ginger 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder 1 tsp red chilli powder 1/4 tsp turmeric powder 1/2 tsp garam masala 2 sp butter salt oil to fry Method Mix all ingredients for gravy and grind in a grinder. Keep aside. Squeeze water from the grated gourd. Add all other ingredients for Koftas, except oil. Make table tennis-ball sized rounds. Fry till golden. Used 2 tbsp butter in another kadai and heat. Add gravy and fry for 4-5 minutes till the oil separates. Add Koftas and bring to boil. Serve hot with chapatis or puris. Mm.. heavenly taste |

| Wherever I have used leftover rice, you can even use leftover poha (beaten rice). Leftover chappaties can be dried in a oven and crumbs made to use instead of bread. |

| dear krishnamma, my recipe for idly upma. 4 to 5 left over idlis, cut into small cubes 1 tsp mustard 1 tsp urad dal 1 tsp channa dal 1 medium sized onion cut into small pieces 2 to 3 green chillies little curry leaves and finely cut coriander leaves 1 small tomato cut finely , optional 2 to 3 tsp oil 3 to 4 tsp idli molagai podi Add oil in a pan , now add mustard, ural dal , channa dal, curry leaves, onions, tomatoes, chillies, and the idli cubes, now add idli molagai podi, and nicely mix it, if salt is less, you can add a pinch of salt..........now garnish with coriander leaves............idli upma is ready....this is a bit spicy, but very tasty............. love padma

| Ingredients Bread - 1 loaf Onion (big) - 3 finely chopped Green Chilies - 3 finely chopped Mustard seeds ½ sp. Channa dal 1 sp Oil 2 sp Salt - to taste Method Cut bread slice into pieces. Put them in a mixer grinder for a min or two. Remove the 'bread rava' and keep aside. Pour oil in a pan, and make seasoning. Add finely chopped onions and fry till golden brown. Add chilies and bread rava. Add salt to taste. Mix well till the mixture gets mixed with the bread rava. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot. Tomato sauce will go well along with Bread Uppma. Note: you can add one or two garlic while make seasoning. |
