| Dear Krishnamma, Yesterday for the dinner I made chow chow thogayal with your ' kuttu podi', what should I say? It tasted heavenly with rasam saadam. Infact, I should name it as 'instant thogayal'. I just fried the chow chow vegetable in only 1tb spoon oil for few secs, later added salt , tamarind paste + 3tbs spoon of krishnamma kuttu podi & that’s it... grinded everything together in a mixie. Just in five mins. The thogayal was ready. Have you tried this before, if not pls. try it out. Thank you

| Dear Krishnamma, Donno whether this is the right place to raise this query/ Anyways wanted to clarify with you since a long time, atlast i got time. Have you heard about the traditional and easy sweet "Kadalai Urundai" ? I am not speaking about the kadalai mittai or chikki sweet, this is quite different. Like rava laddu, pottukadalai urundai this is also made. The main ingredient is kadali (peanut) and jaggery. Both are crushed and made into balls, but there are some procedures which i dont remember exactly. If you have any idea plz do share with us. Hope i have not confused you? Thanks a lot. |

I know that recipe and let me give it here. and also in jaggery section. sorry for the delay. ( because of my net connection I could not log in here frequently.) here is the recipe enjoy. Ingredients 1 cup unroasted peanuts. 1/2 cup powdered jaggery. Method Deskin the peanuts. In a food processor, make a coarse powder of the peanuts. Remove and keep it aside. Now add the jaggery and peanut powder and run the mixer.once or twice. Again, add both peanut and jaggery and blend them well. Take it out. Make balls out of the mixture. Enjoy as a snack anytime. Note:I wanted the small bits of peanuts present in the laddus,so I made coarse powder. But,as per the original recipe, the laddus use to be made with finely ground peanuts. also you can add cardamom powder or 'dry ginger powder' in the laddu. you can make jaggery 'pagu' and can add peanut powder in that and then make laddu. please give me a feed back after you enjoy this dish. for your reply. |

| Dear Krishnamma, I just moved to singapore a month ago. I went to buy 'ponni broken rice' to make idli and dosas, because there was no idli rice ( the shop keeper said so ). Now, I dont know the proportion to prepare the batter. Because of this, we dont have idli, dosa.......Can u please tell me how to use up this rice, luckily I gont only 1kg packet, so I can have good idlis with your yummy side dishes!!! (I dont have a grinder currently with me) Thanks Poornima. |

dont worry. from your post I understood that you are having raw rice for idly and dosa. you can make good idly and dosa with that. I always prepare idly and dosa with raw rice only. so go ahead and try. all the best. the ratio is 4 : 1 that is rice 4 cups and 1 cup udad dal. when you prepare dosa add 1 sp fenugreek and graind with udad dal. after trying this give me a feed back. I too dont have grinder in Saudi I used to grind in mixey only. |
