Hope you had a blast this year. My friend will be going to Kolkata for few months. They will be staying in hotel, since they don’t have anyone down there. They are looking for some budget hotels of Kolkata near the airport or Salt Lake. They have asked me so I thought this would be the best place for help; I hope you all will help me. If anyone of you know about some good budget hotels in northern and eastern Kolkata please do tell me. Since they will be moving around for work most of the time, they have decided not to go for the luxurious ones.
Please post if you know of the budget hotels.

My cousin who stays in a town near Kolkata often has to stay at Kolkata on buisness. He stays at Hotel Ashok,( Ph :033-22275904) just near the Sealdah Railway Station. It has a large bar on its ground floor, but other wise OK. I would therefore not advise single ladies to stay there.
There are plenty of other guest houses of course, but I dont have any details.

You can check out Hotel Host International in VIP Road near Baguati. Kolkata- 700 059. Phone: 2570 6617/2168. It’s a good hotel in the budget range. You can try out this one.

Maybe a 'lil late in seeing this.Am based in Delhi,thought of turning my SouthCity flat into a service apartment for NRIs coming to Kol for vacation or short stay.This idea was planted by my friend who stays in t the US.If the idea apeals ,do write back.
But Delo, Please do check if your society will approve of a service apartment in a residential complex. Because, I'm not sure if you have a clause in your agreement that you cannot use the residential property for business.
I'm telling you since one of the apartment in our society had to face the wrath and close down the service apartment after strong objection from neighbors and other residents, as people though this might breach security as you do not know who and with what purpose will come and stay. Actually, with the security status in India being so volatile, its natural I guess for people to be skeptical.
After all, its all your decision, my intention was just to share my thoughts. Anyone has to say anything on this? Please share your thoughts.
Yeah, Sonia is right… I don’t think they’d allow you.
Anyways, a lot of hotels are coming up and apartments are being rented out on long term basis as guesthouses to various IT offices in Sector V of Kolkata.
The idea would work out surely if you get the permission from your society…
