Games played as kids!

Hello to all of you!

Do you remember the kind of games you used to play as kids? Remember those hand games.....???!!!! Now that my daughter is growing older, I was wondering about this... things you have to think of to entertain them...

Some I remember are....
{These are singing games, played with both hands in a rythmic movement....}
a. Aam Chuki, Chapan Chuki, Tana Baba, Kadam Badaye, Aali dus....
b. Zig-Zag-Zoom... Together up, Together down, Together front, Together Back, Together
c. The sailor went to see-see-see, to see what he could see-see-see, at the bottom of the ocean see-see-see... chop-chop-chop...knee-knee-knee...toe-toe-toe...
d. Whole stole the cookie from the cookie shop? Mr. 1 stole the cookie from the cookie shop.... Who me? Yes, you! Couldn't be? Then who? Mr. 2 stole the cookie
from the cookie shop?..... so on....

{This is more of the hand on surface games...}
a. Chidiya ud? ( You keep you finger on the surface.... & say any thing "ud" as in "fly"... If the thing said flies, you must lift your finger, but if it does not, & the finger is up then everyone gets to hit the person's hand... for eg... If said chidiya ud... all fingers go up, but if haathi ud is said, it must be on the surface itself)
b. Numerical game.... ( Decide any number, say 5... count fingers... the 5th finger is folded.... The 1st one with all fingers folded is the winner)

These games used to take so much of our time & we would enjoy it thoroughly... I would love to hear more inputs on this....

In addition to some of the above, I think ludo and snake and ladder too was quite popular.

Besides that the game--- name, place, animal,thing( we are still playing..) and chinese checkers were quite a few.

There were many more---I will come back as I recall them..

I htink many of the games we used to play in our generation ??? were also games which were in some way a contributory factor to your well being ..

I remember playing "yezhu kallu"... the act of looking up and down trying to catch the stones .. was the perfect exercise for the eyes!!

games which were played with simple things like "pulian kottai" ... enhanced your counting skills ...

games like Paandi ...we played them as games .. ensured that the calories were burnt effectively and now I pay for doing these at the aerobics class !!!!!

Ofcourse in the peak summer there were always card games to be played, snake and ladder, Ludo ...

miss those days
