I am interested to know about any experiences with prashna (using cowrie shells) form of astrology. I understand that Kerala is the home of the advanced and most accurate form of astrology... namely the prashna. It would be very interesting to hear actual experiences. Thank you Pradeep
I have heard that prashnams are accurate to a great extent. Panickers specialise in it. You have to go to a right one otherwise you will be milked in the name of parihaarams.
Thank you for your reply. I was reading this story of the great astrologer Bharthrihari which is very fascinating by any count. I wonder if these traditions in Jyotish continue to be maintained if they be be by a few gifted, eminent and scholarly astrologers of Kerala. I read that in a place called Pazhoor padippura Bharthrihari's descendants still carry on the tradition on the samadhi stal of this great man. ::: Pazhoor Padippura :::: It will interesting to hear of uncanny predictions thru' Prashna, that came true. Hello Pradeep Not sure if you have come across this thread. Please have a read and it might interest you......... http://www.indusladies.com/forums/s.../63497-aroodam-horary-astrology-nimittam.html
Thank you so much for that wonderful write-up on Nimitta and Aroodam....and also that very interesting incident. I have been reading about a great tri-kala gnani of kerala who lived a few centuries ago called Bharthrihari (you would have sure heard of him) and the wonderful predictions he used to give. He had to become an out-caste as destiny willed...even though he tried to avoid this situation. His descendants still carry on with this prashna astrology which I believe is inspired by his spirit as well as that of his son. This place is near Piravom (near Ernakulam) and is called pazhoor padipurra. I am also a student of astrology.... as yet still struggling to get a hold of this great science. I look forward to know more about Prashna of which nimitta is an important component. Please tell us more of this science as well as incidents like the one you have given. Regards Pradeep
Ayyooo !! Pradeep.........mistaken identity. That was not posted by me. It was by another IL member here Rrg. I gave you the link to his post. I am sure he will be the best person to talk to on this. When you posted on Kerala's Prashna Astro, I remembered reading Rrg's post, so gave you the link. I am just the medium !! Glad to know that you liked the post. Thx.
I know!! I meant to thank you for guiding me to that write-up. and if you do come across some such interesting incidents please do put it up. Regards Pradeep
Oh surely will do boss !!! I dont want this thread to become a personal chat medium for us and wanted to PM you, but you are not yet over 50 posts, so this was the only way. Will keep you in mind, if I do come across similar information.
The prashna system is more to be preferred than the birth chart as invariably the recorded time of birth can be and mostly is far from accurate. I wonder how they erected charts in those days when there were no clocks... nor I suppose anyone knew of latitudes and longitudes.....And yet they were so perfect than you cannot find such professional astrologers today even though we have so many state-of-the-art computers!!!! Perhaps the inaccuracies of noting birth-times or doubtful birth-times were made up for, by the prashna system which I think is very very practical and perhaps most accurate. Just some thoughts.... wish to hear from others . Pradeep
Is there anyone in this forum who has attempted to study astrology. If so what has been your experience....Any difficulties you have faced....And how you have tried to overcome them. Thank you Pradeep
