Hello Happy Onam and Celebration Time

Hi IL's,

Wish u all IL's Happy Onam( Onaasamsakal ).
How have u planned to decorate with flowere for onam.
How everbody have panned for onasadhya.
We are celebrating onam only on Avittam day as I will get saturday holiday in Hyderabad and no holiday on Thirovonam.

I hope all enjoy this onam with lots of fun.

Thanx for your greetings.
Well, as far as Iam concerned, I used to mske 'pookkalam' when my children were young. We used to get lot of flowers in our garden itself.
Now they are away from home for work and studies.
So, all festivals are low-key affair. I put fairly big kolam and make a payasam to offer to God. Watch the TV for fun! Exchange wishes thro' phone or mails with friends and relatives.

Wishing all of you a Lovely Onam !!

This is my first onam in US !! How much am looking forward to cook a sadya ! Have always been having sadya cooked by mommy till now ! Still remeber dad doing the " pachakari " shoping and he used to get flowers too. Me and my sister used to go shopping till we were in school.. once she was married and I started working.. poor dad had to do all by himself ! But he loved it.. as he could get all his choice and we had to make it look right !! Ho much I miss the asianet / surya tv programs on Onam !! Here we arent allowed to hook a dish in our apartment! :( However.. will track it down from some sites online after my cooking fiasco !! ;)
Me and hubby going " pachakari " shopping today and will buy flowers tommorow. He is not a malayalee and is looking forward to show his artistic skills in the pookolam !! Wow !! Am I sounding excited ?? ..

hey guys.
this is the worst onam i have ever had... (first onam in US) far away from home and husband gone on a business trip!!! a lonely onam... spending time watching onam shows on asianet and surya!!!
