Hi Latha,

I lived in Mumbai for 45 years. Moved around from Chembur to Sion to Borivili and then to Andheri.
Every school holidays we would go off to Tiruvilwamala which was my maternal grandmothers home and have a blast with the mangoes, jack fruits and loved the quiet, temple visits to the Ramar Temple and the Bhagavati Kovil which was just outside our compound. we had a small pond connected to our home. A lot of cousins would also come in right through the holidays and those were almost days of magic and fun.

Schooling and education was in Mumbai. We moved to New Zealand in 1999 and are now settled in Hamilton. This is a lovely country also and very often reminds me of Kerala.

Where do you live Latha? and What are your hobbies?

Hi Nimmi,

As my daughter says "everything under the sun are amma's hobbies" I don't seem to take anything seriously, keep jumping from one thing to the other.

I like embroidery work and was doing cross stitch and crochet. My eyes started giving me trouble so left them. Cooking is another and that I continue even now. You can say that I am a jack of all of trades person but master of none.

Now I started learning computers for chatting, I ended up in my husband's office first as his secretary and now I am taking care of accounts ( quick books and accounting) as well.

As per your mail, I think you belong to my age group.

Love
Latha

Hi Latha,

You are dead right. I am in my early 50's and enjoying this stage of my life. I work in an area where there are very few Indians working.
I love music and enjoy both Carnatic and Hindustani music - and sing both.
I love good food!!! which is my weakness as it is a struggle to keep the flab off - especially since I love wearing all kinds of dresses!!
I love gardening and have a good rose garden here.

Whenever I visit India - I go to my birth place and visit many of the temples.
I love Kerala and during my last visit I went to Kottayam, Allepy Trivandrum and also the famous 'coconut grove' down the backwaters in the houseboat.

Cheers
Nimmi
