| Hi all Just my 2 cents..Treadmill and elliptical..both provide excellent forms of exercise. But purely on the basis of weight loss, there are many articles which states that elliptical is better, since it works out the hands areas as well. I have a treadmill at home..bought it some 5 months ago but I am not very regular with it. Just remember one thing..treadmill is fantastic but the weight loss is very very gradual in it. One pound of fat is about 3500 calories. And an average person has to walk for about 13.5 hours to lose one pound of fat! So, even after you start working on a treadmill, it is very difficult to see results in a few weeks or so. You might feel your dresses loosening up and all..but for others to see it and for your weight to actually go down in the scales..will take a lot of time. I do not know much about elliptical since I used one only for a few months in the gym in my apartment. But it is good and is very safe..so if you have knee pain or joint pain or somethng like that, and if treadmill is too hard for you, or you fear you might hurt yourself in a treadmill, then elliptical will be a great alternative. Thanks |

| Hi Celebrate, Nice to meet you too :). Yes you are right. We do burn more calories in a treadmill if we elect to run. |

| Hi, I added about 20kg during my pregnancy. I bought a basic motorized treadmill to shed off those extra kilos.30 min of treadmill(6kmph) combined with a low fat diet help me shed about 8 kilos in 3 months. I think motorized treadmill(the basic ones start in the range of Rs 28,000) are a great investment for losing weight and keeping in shape. |

If you wanna maintain your weight only exercise will workout... but if your weight loss process you need to do some restriction on your diet and along with that if you do workouts sure you can reduce ... instead of walking for 30 mins in thread mill... 10 mins jogging in thread mill makes a big difference try it out... even though you dont find any changes in the thread mill chart... sure there will changes in your weight... all the best... |

The reason for you to get leg pains is the shoes u are using while running in threadmill. Try to get some shock absorber and very light weight shoes for running in threadmill because while u run the whole body weight is carried in ur legs and that needs great support . I have seen many ppl running with ordinary canvas shoes, slippers in thread mill or even in ground which is not at all adviceable . Frequent stain to the leg musules will result in big problems in future. So pls go ahead get good shoes for running .
