| Hi Rathi, I guess it would count to be a workout, though not an extensive one. How many calories we burn depends on the type of cleaning and the duratiopn of cleaning, I guess! In my opinion, anything that gets you sweating can be counted as a workout for they help burn calories. |

| Rathi, Yes, you can definitely burn calories while doing housework. I happened to read the following tips given by a trainer in a website...don't remember the name. To burn calories while doing house work, do several chores at one time. For instance, make the bed, put laundry in the dryer, run upstairs to fold clean clothes and put them away. When you're making the beds, keep your shoulders back and pretend you have a book on your head. While you're dusting, roll up on the balls of your feet to work your calves. Also, do yard work, if you have one. Pull weeks, dig holes and rake your lawn. Gardening just one hour can burn up to 500 calories. Easy ways to burn calories, I guess at home! |
