Hi,
I am Yamuna, 29 years old and I weigh 72 kgs. I must be 55kgs by April 2010. There is family function that I am supposed to attend and I want to be happy to meet my relatives, instead of being afraid all the time, that they are going to comment on my weight gain.
My motivation for the weight loss - I want to feel good about myself.
- I want to be healthy.
I have tried GM diet, and it works for me. But when Iam not dieting,I loose sight of my goal, and gain back what I have lost.
I am starting GM diet today. I am going to eat fruits, and drink cabbage soup. I will go for walk in the evening for 40 to 60 minutes, while I am on GM diet.
I plan on 2 sets to GM diet. The first one starts today and the next starts on Sepetember 9. If I successfully complete these 2 sets of GM diet, then I will be 5 kgs down.
This is my immediate goal. I have pulled out a dress that I donot fit in now, and going to hang it somewhere for me to see, so that I am reminded of my tartget at all times.
Looking for your support and feedback. It would be great if someone intends to do the GM diet along with.Company will motivate me for sure.
Best wishes,
Yamuna.

| | My dear hat, you really motivate me, i am going through a bad phase now and after reading all your posts here you have motivated me, this year i have been sick and i have been putting on and losing weight and i need to loose at least 3 kilos which are so hard to loose. ok buy the raw papaya and keep it at home and let it ripe once its riped eat it you know we are lucky we get all fresh fruits here and people come to sell here at home. It is ok once in a while you eat but hte next day try to go low on food eat more of vegetables boiled or steamed and fruits try not to have any fried foods. Wow you do yoga, that is so good you know surya namaskars are the best, if you do it deligently everyday you will tone up your entire body and you will loose your weight. continue with your yoga and also do your aeorbics and ask your friend to show you some ab exercises i have a pdf file some where let me look for it and i will try to attach it here. you can post all your work out details here so others can read and you can motivate them too, yes asanas are good for abs. you are really doing well sometiems when you feel you are tired of soups just steam all the veggies and eat them you can saute them in butter with garlic and ginger. Also continue to drink 2 litres of water. if you are doing house work, in between have an apple. i hope all this helps, you have agreat week love alpa Quote:

I have been having grapes, apples, plums, watermelon (whenever I get it), dates (not more than 3 a day). I know you asked me to eat papaya, but the papaya I see in supermarkets is raw. Can I eat even raw papaya? I have to admit one thing though, I am not exactly fond of papaya, but I will try to include it daily at least in minimal quantities to start with. I haven't found kiwifruit still.
Re rice, I know I should cut down. Perhaps I must eat 2 chappatis and have 1 serving of rice? Until now, I have been limiting myself to 2 servings of rice daily, and splitting it among sambar, rasam and curd.
Have a great day! | Dear preethos, please eliminate all fried food from your diet, if you get home and you are hungry have a banana it will help you, you can have a heavy breakfst and your lunch is good, for dinner avoid rice and drik soup only, try it it will really help and you will se results in 3 weeks time. continue with your gym at work carry some salads or fruits like apple and have it for mid morning snack. you need to eat. please post your diet plan and your exercise is good do you ahve aerobics in your gym if yes then do it, it will really help you. start drinking at least 2 litres of water through out the day, water is good for you, cut down on sugar. hope all this helps you love alpa Quote:

I think, my diet is too bad.
I have gym in my community as well as in my workplace and I do it regularly.
Exercise Routine
20 mins - treadmill/eliptical
20 min - cycling
20 min - glut kicker
then abdominal crunches and other weights for hands, inner thighs and outer thighs | Dear Yamuna, i wrote this post for preetho and am pasting it to you, please read it and follow it , you can do just be focused, do not diet just reduce on your eating, do not over eat and exercise. welcome here. we are all here to motivate you and you can do it, if you were a fitness freak like i am then you can do anything the only thing we need to do is to help you out of your depression. now i need you to post your daily plan here and do you have gym near by your place, if yes then go and have a look at it and talk to the trainers there tell them about your problem and tell them you need a prgram, if the program is not what you wnat to do then join the aerobics class and start with it. if no gym then join yogaclass you will need to exrcise to loose all that extra weight, let me tell you i have put on 6 kilos in a span of 3 yrs though i have to reduce only 3 kilos as i was under weight before but to reduce these extra kilos is a challenge for me. Diet itself shall not help you,if you diet and no exercise then you shall have hanging flabs and it will make you look ugly. now i want you to follow this 1) start your day by drinking a glass of hot water with lemon juice in it, if you are allergic to it add honey and no lemon, drink on an empty stomach 2) if can make fresh fruit juic at home make aglass for you and your dh its healthy, avoid mangoes, avocadoes and chiku, have that after and hour or so after drinking the water, then eat a bowl of fruit like papaya or apples or a banana. Have a weetabix if you want no biscuits and in your weetabix yo ucan add some nuts like walnuts. Have your tea if you want to, then eat anything else you want to eat no fried foods. 3) for your mid mornig snack, have a fruit or some boiled veggies, have lots of green veggies boil them or steam them add little salt and pepper to it or you can have a salad with no dressing add salt pepper or lemon juice see hat's salad expample she has made nice one 4) for lunch have a chappatti, if you are having 4 chappatis reduce to 2 and if you are having rice then reduce the quantity of your rice. 5) forsnack have a fruit like a small or a half banana. 6) for dinner have home made soup i have given a recipe in this forum to hat please have alook at it, add lots of cabbage in your soup as cabbage helps to loose weight. 7) drink 2 litres of hot water through out the day. 8) be calm and focused and exercise your goal should be loosing one kilo a month or 2 not more than that and eat in small quantities. i hope this helps but the effort has to be from you and we shall all guide you i look forward to your daily diet planm be honest nad write down everything love, hugs and kisses alpa Quote:

Dear Alpa
Me motivating you??!!! Awwwww, am lost for words. It's very kind of you to say so, and if I am really motivating you, I am merely paying you back in the same coin.
I have total confidence that good things are waiting for you around the corner, you will very soon regain your health, achieve and maintain your weight, and have all that you ever wished in life
I know that eating out is very bad for health and diet but am caught in a dilemma here. I had to eat out yday cos I met my friend in a shopping mall of all places! To catch up on each other's lives, we had to head to the nearest restaurant. In fact, I have a wedding anniversary to attend on 01 Sep night. Can't escape cos it is a very dear friend of ours. So what would you suggest I eat? It's a typical South Indian restaurant and people would find it very strange (and hurt!!!) if I were to drink soup and eat salad. Any pointers will be very welcome.
Re rice, I admit am a rice addict. Once while travelling, I had to be without rice for two days. I was like a junkie without his fix. After those two days, I hogged and hogged rice in its various forms. So can I have one serving of rice + 1 chappati? Or I am even ready to increase my workout, but rice is my weakness.
Have mentally noted all your suggestions and will implement soon. Thank you

| | Re: Weight Loss Buddy Hi dear,
i understand what you mean when you meet friends its ok once in awhile you can do it but the next day go very easy on your stomach, eat boiled green veggies and fruits, drink lots and lots of water. Now since you are going to a function on 1st sept, what you do is take everything in small quantities do not overfeed yourself, take small small pieces and take time to chew your food, or before going for the function drink a bowl of soup and go so your full and you know that you will take very little food.
that is what i normally do, i have to go for a reception or marriage i take a big helping of salad and take very little h elping of other foods and i do not like rice, i eat only at times when i feel like but normally at breakfast we have fried rice i have very little to eat to fill up my stomach.
hope this helps
love

Dear Alpa
Thanks for your guidance. I will also eat a salad before going out anywhere and take more control of the diet the next day. Yesterday, I dint each much. Dint feel like eating. Good, isn't it? So, here's the diet.
7:00 am: Fenugreek with warm water
9:30 am: 1 biscuit of weetabix with apple. Ran out of dates
11:00 am: 1 carrot
2:00 pm: Made a salad with onion, capscium, tomato and cucumber. No dressing
5:00 pm: 1 orange
8:00 pm: 1 small bunch of grapes and 1 plum
I am drinking 2 litres of warm water daily.
Today's workout:
I started with 5 minutes of pranayama, then surya namaskar 5 times, did other asanas (same as yesterday), contd with aerobics. It took me approx 50 mins to do all this. I look forward to your pdf on yoga. It would be quite helpful. Thanks in advance.
I know rice is not at all good for health. In fact, cutting down rice completely is my long-term goal. I am 36 now, so when I am 40 I hope to have cut it out fully. To start with, per your advice let me try with 1 chappati and 1 1/2 serving of rice. If I am able to sustain it over a period of time, say a month, then I will reduce the quantity of rice gradually.
Let's see how it works out.
