Monday Determination - How it helps me to renew my commitment on a weekly basis !

    Mondays are very important for me to renew my determination and commitment for two things, one to eat less on two meals in a day and to do 40 minutes exercises. I try my best to have maximum commitment to do these two on Monday, write the results on a small paper I pasted on our kitchen door. Then, after Monday, I say to myself, "look, you have done it nicely for Monday, why can't you carry on the same commitment throughout this week". Then, on I go on marking my attempts at less eating and exerices on the same piece of paper.

    I find this way of weekly renewal of my commitment very useful for renewing my commitment in other things of life also, namely, 1) reading of my subject for thirty minutes of a day on Monday & then trying to sustain a reading habit throughout the week. and 2) do my meditation practice sincerly on Monday, to carry on the commitment in it for the remaining whole week.

    Please look at the paper I have attached to our kitchen door. I welcome your comments. Some one interested can follow this way of marking our actual hardwork in weight reduction in a piece of paper and weekly updating of each other..........at the same time, renewing each other's commitment, every week.

    Dear ig,

    i am a new bee in this group and was also looking for a motivation to reduce weight loss.i went through other thread (even yours) and found that after sometime people wander here and there. I request you to let us keep it strictly to our weight loss schedule.

    I would share with you my routine on weekly basis.I am a mother of a 1.5yr old son so it would be difficult for me to keep up consistency but still then with someone to guide,i hope i can achieve my goal.

    Thanks for your inspiration,i 'll start from today and will post you my chart on sunday and then from monday a new commitment.Awaiting for your response.

    Personally, the above mentioned approach works nicely for me. Every Monday, I renew my determination. So far, there were no takers for my concept of marking down our real work in a paper, (posted on a prominent place of work)..........introspecting our work (by 'work' I mean the process of trying to eat 3/4th stomach and doing regular exercises) at the week end.............then , next Monday, renewing our determination.

    When I eat 3/4 stomach eating, I fill up the remaining stomach with cucumber, tomatoe and carrot (either of these three).

    By the above approach, I have lost five kg so far. I started from 74 kg around seven months back. Now I am 69.5 kg.

    Let us work together in this thread and continue to bolster our committment..! :)

    Where were you all these days, Pavithra ? Your absence was so conspicuous....! Ever since you left, I have lost one kg. Now I am at 69.3 kg. I have to lose four more kg to reach my target weight. For me, my way of Monday renewal of determination every week, works well.

    Glad to know IG your determination and efforts have paid off... I am sure with your novel techniques you can surely achieve the target.

    My MIL passed away suddenly and so I was out of contact for a month. slowly settling in back to routine though life never seems the same.

    You are welcome, if you wish to join our way of weight loss. Here we do not talk about targets. We do not talk about individual recipes you eat. The focus of this thread is to concentrate on our real 'work'. By the word, "Work", I mean, the ability to eat 3/4th stomach for two meals per day (no food cuts in breakfast) and the ability to carry out daily exercise program.............and to introspect and improve our 'work'.

    That is it. ​
